‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ beats Oscars among Hispanics
Last week the awards show of choice among U.S. Hispanic viewers wasn’t the Oscars, it was Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro.”
The annual awards show averaged 4.45 million total Latino viewers on Feb. 19, according to Nielsen, making it the most-watched telecast of the week on Spanish-language broadcast, although down slightly from 4.56 million viewers last year.
That outpaced ABC’s telecast of the Oscars, which was the top English-language broadcast program of the week with 3.72 million Hispanic viewers, down 7 percent from 4.01 million a year ago.
While “Premio Lo Nuestro” slipped slightly year-to-year, the annual pre-show “Noche de Estrellas” was up a tick, going from 2.98 million Latino viewers to 3.03 million.
