Univision Ranks as the No. 1 Spanish-Language Network During Primetime for the Fourteenth Consecutive Week, Besting Telemundo by Double-Digit Audience Advantages Across All Key Demos
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of December 21, 2020 to December 27, 2020
- For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, out-delivering CBS and The CW with 162,000 Adults 18-34 as well as the fifth largest broadcast network, ahead of The CW with 404,000 Adults 18-49 and 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34 and on five out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime for the fourteenth consecutive week in the current 2020/2021 season with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+21% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+27% adv.).
- Airing weeknights at 8 p.m., “Vencer el Desamor” averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 609,000 Adults 18-49 and 241,000 Adults 18-34 and drove Univision to a second-place finish on broadcast television, out-delivering CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-34. The series also doubled the audience levels of the first hour of Telemundo’s “El Domo Del Dinero” among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- Univision’s “Imperio de Mentiras” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-over-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+6% to 506,000) and Adults 18-34 (+2% to 185,000). The series made Univision a top-rated broadcast network in the weeknight 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot, outperforming CBS, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 while also out-delivering Telemundo’s “Todo Por Mi Hija” by +9% and +7% across these two demographics, respectively.
- Airing weeknights at 10 p.m., “Dulce Ambicion” attracted 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 436,000 Adults 18-49 and 156,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision ahead of CBS with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The series also outperformed Telemundo’s “Falsa Identidad II” with double-digit audience advantages among Total Viewers 2+ (+42% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+27% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+30% adv.).
- On Thursday night, Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking for the entire night, outperforming CBS, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The special movie presentation of “The Nativity Story” attracted 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 447,000 Adults 18-49 and 190,000 Adults 18-34, making it the third most-watched program on broadcast television with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 while also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+ (+36% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+15% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+10% adv.).
- Friday night’s special movie presentation of “Taken 3” delivered 1.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 419,000 Adults 18-49 and 194,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision ahead of CBS and The CW for the entire night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. “Taken 3” also ranked among the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television, in sixth and seventh-place with the respective 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics and made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+61% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+60% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+116% adv.).
- Univision finished 2020 as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime for the 28th consecutive year with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+41% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (44% adv.).
