Univision Attracts More Adults 18-34 than CBS in Primetime for the Entire Week
Sunday Night Reality Competition Series “Tu Cara Me Suena” Averages Highest Audience Levels With Key Adult 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 Viewers
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of November 16, 2020 to November 22, 2020
- Univision delivered double-digit week-over-week primetime audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+10% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+13% to 509,000) and Adults 18-34 (+18% to 207,000).
- For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, out-delivering CBS and The CW with 207,000 Adults 18-34 as well as the fifth largest broadcast network, ahead of The CW with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and 509,000 Adults 18-49.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34 and on four out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime for the ninth consecutive week in the current 2020/2021 season with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+33% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+37% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+44% adv).
- In its second week, “Vencer el Desamor” attracted 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 594,000 Adults 18-49 and 246,000 Adults 18-34, making Univision the top-rated network on Spanish-language television with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo in the weeknight 8 p.m. hour across all three demographic groups. Averaging over half-a-million Adult 18-49 viewers, the series also out-delivered original airings of such English-language dramas as ABC’s “For Life;” CBS’ “Bull” and “S.W.A.T;” NBC’s “Blacklist” and “Transplant;” FOX’s “Filthy Rich” and “LA’s Finest” as well as The CW’s “Coroner,” “Devils,” “Swamp Thing,” “Supernatural” and “The Outpost.”
- Univision’s “Imperio de Mentiras” averaged 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 493,000 Adults 18-49 and 190,000 Adults 18-34 and has consistently outperformed Telemundo’s “Todo Por Mi Hija” head-to-head in the Monday through Friday 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot with double-digit audience advantages of +11% among Adults 18-34.
- Airing weeknights at 10 p.m., “Dulce Ambicion” delivered 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 380,000 Adults 18-49 and 129,000 Adults 18-34. The series drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “For Life,” CBS’ “Star Trek: Discovery” and NBC’s “Transplant” as well as more Adults 18-49 (+7% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Falsa Identidad II.”
- On Thursday night, the three-hour broadcast of the 21st Annual “Latin Grammy Awards” attracted 2.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 931,000 Adults 18-49 and 421,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision ahead of CBS, NBC and The CW for the entire night with both the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics. The award show averaged more Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of CBS’ “B Positive,” “Mom,” “The Unicorn” and “Star Trek: Discovery;” NBC’s “Superstore,” “Law and Order: SVU” and “Dateline;” as well as The CW’s “Supernatural.” The 2020 edition of the “Latin Grammy Awards” also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- Univision’s “Aqui y Ahora” increased its audience from the prior Sunday among Total Viewers 2+ (+12% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+9% to 383,000) and Adults 18-34 (+47% to 197,000). The primetime news magazine also averaged more Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 than Telemundo’s entire primetime line-up consisting of the featured film airings of “Mechanic Resurrection” and “Death Wish.”
- Sunday night’s semi-finals airing of “Tu Cara Me Suena” delivered 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 548,000 Adults 18-49 and 229,000 Adults 18-34 and made Univision a top-rated broadcast network in the 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time slot, outperforming CBS and The CW with Adults 18-34. The reality competition series averaged its highest-rated telecast thus far with double-digit week-over-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+11%) and Adults 18-34 (+24%) as well as drove Univision to the No. 1 network ranking on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+58% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+34% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+38% adv.).
