“Sábado Futbolero” Drives Univision to Victory over CBS, NBC and FOX on Saturday Night Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

 

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of August 26, 2019 to September 1, 2019

  • For the fourth consecutive week, Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision finished ahead of CBS, FOX and The CW during primetime among Adults 18-34 for the entire week. Last week also marked the 49th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season that Univision has surpassed The CW in primetime with 1.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 413,000 Adults 18-49 and 184,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Airing weeknights at 9 p.m., Univision’s “Juntos, El Corazón Nunca Se Equivoca” averaged its highest-rated weekly performance with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+9% to 1.1 million), Adults 18-49 (+2% to 425,000) and Adults 18-34 (+13% to 194,000), marking the second consecutive week of audience growth since its premiere. The series also attracted more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Reef Break;” NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night;” FOX’s “BH90210,” “So You Think You Can Dance” and “What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage” as well as The CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Big Stage,” “Bulletproof,” “Hypnotize Me,” “I Ship It,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Mysteries Decoded,” “Pandora,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Outpost,” “Two Sentence Horror Stories” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”
  • Friday night’s finale of “La Reina Soy Yo” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 496,000 Adults 18-49 and 248,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network during the 8pm hour, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-34 as well as the No. 2 broadcast network, ahead of ABC, CBS, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-49. As the second highest-rated program on broadcast television, the series drew in more 18 to 34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “What Would You Do?” and The CW’s “Masters of Illusion” and “Big Stage.” “La Reina Soy Yo” also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+18% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+2% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+49% adv.) than the second hour of Telemundo’s “Exatlón Estados Unidos” during its finale from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday night.
  • On Saturday night, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking for the entire night, outperforming CBS, NBC and FOX among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with live coverage of “Sábado Futbolero.” The matches also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+15% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+30% adv.).
    • The first matchup of the night between Tigres UANL and Leon attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+47% to 853,000), Adults 18-49 (+53% to 407,000) and Adults 18-34 (+58% to 171,000) to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday in 2018, making it the fourth and fifth most-watched program on all of broadcast television with the respective 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics.
    • Cruz Azul vs. Guadalajara (Chivas) retained and increased its overall lead-in audience by +9% with 933,000 Total Viewers 2+ and delivered double-digit year-over-year audience growth to the network’s Saturday 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. time period to rank as the second highest-rated program on broadcast television among Adults 18-49 (+22% to 501,000) and Adults 18-34 (+21% to 216,000). Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime, out-delivering Telemundo for the entire week among Total Viewers 2+.
  • Univision’s primetime newsmagazine, “Aquí y Ahora” increased its audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+20% to 916,000) and Adults 18-49 (+28% to 387,000) as well as year-over-year by +30% and +59% across these two demographics, respectively. “Aquí y Ahora” also made Univision the top-rated Spanish-language network during the Sunday 7 p.m. hour with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+11% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+10% adv.).
