Univision Defeats CBS and FOX in Primetime For Second Straight Week, Outperforms One or More of the English-Language Broadcast Networks – ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX – on Six of Seven Nights With Adults 18-34

Saturday Night Once Again Belongs to Univision as the Network Delivers the No. 1 Ranking on Broadcast TV Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 for the Second Consecutive Week


Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of July 22, 2019 to July 28, 2019

  • With “Sábado Futbolero” featuring the back-to-back Liga MX matchups of Leon vs. America and Cruz Azul vs. Toluca, Univision finished as the No. 1 broadcast network for the second consecutive Saturday night, ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Leon vs. America attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+41% to 1.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+45% to 542,000) and Adults 18-34 (+26% to 217,000) to the network’s 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday in 2018, making it the top-rated program on all of broadcast television with both the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics. The second match of the night between Cruz Azul and Toluca drew in 882,000 Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the second and third most-watched programs on broadcast television among Adults 18-34 (193,000) and Adults 18-49 (467,000), respectively. The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • For the second consecutive week, Univision ranked as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, outperforming CBS, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision finished ahead of the CW for the 44th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season in primetime with 1.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 421,000 Adults 18-49 and 182,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Univision’s “La Reina Soy Yo” delivered 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 429,000 Adults 18-49 and 200,000 Adults 18-34, positioning it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the weeknight 8 p.m. hour with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo’s “Un Poquito Tuyo” among Total Viewers 2+ (+36% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+28% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+46% adv.). The series also averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Family Food Night,” “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Reef Break” and “To Tell the Truth;” CBS’s “Blood & Treasure,” “Elementary,” “Instinct,” “Million Dollar Mile,” “The Code” and “The Good Fight;” NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night” and “The InBetween;” FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and “What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage;” as well as The CW’s “Big Stage,” “iZombie,” “Jane the Virgin,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Pandora,” “Penn & Teller: Fool US,” “The Hundred,” “The Outpost” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”
  • Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking during the weeknight 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot with double-digit audience advantages over ABC (+10% adv.), CBS (+97% adv.) and NBC (+22% adv.) among Adults 18-34. “Por Amar Sin Ley” increased its audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+12% to 1.2 million), Adults 18-49 (+12% to 440,000) and Adults 18-34 (+27% to 201,000). The legal dramatic series also out-delivered the first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as ABC’s “Reef Break;” CBS’ “Blood & Treasure,” “Instinct,” “The Code” and “The Good Fight” as well as The CW’s “iZombie,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Pandora,” “The Hundred” and “The Outpost” among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
