Univision Tops ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW and Telemundo on Sunday Night, Delivers Two of the Top Five Programs on Broadcast TV for the Entire Week Among Adults 18-49
Univision Delivers Primetime Audience Growth for the Second Consecutive Week Across All Key Demos
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of June 17, 2019 to June 23, 2019
- On Sunday night, Univision was the top-rated broadcast network for the entire night, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW and Telemundo among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup matchup between Martinique and Mexico drew in 2.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.3 million Adults 18-49 and 545,000 Adults 18-34, making it the No. 1 program on broadcast television with both the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics. Not only did the sports event triple the network’s audience levels in the 8:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time slot from the prior week but it also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with three to four times the audience of Telemundo on Sunday night among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, ahead of CBS and The CW among Adults 18-49 as well as CBS, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-34. Last week also marked the 39th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season that Univision has surpassed The CW in primetime with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 595,000 Adults 18-49 and 238,000 Adults 18-34.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime, outperforming Telemundo by +3% among Adults 18-49 and by +11% among Total Viewers 2+.
- Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34 and on four out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
- Univision delivered audience growth (+4%) during primetime from the comparable week in 2018 while ABC (-2%), CBS (-20%), NBC (-18%), FOX (-15%), The CW (-23%) and Telemundo (-5%) all reported audience declines with the key Adult 18-49 demographic.
- Univision aired two of the top five programs during primetime on broadcast television for the entire week among Adults 18-49 with No. 3 “Copa Oro 2019 UNI 10(S)-Mexico vs. Canada” and No. 5 “Copa Oro 2019 UNI 18(S)-Martinica vs. Mexico.”
- For the second consecutive week, Univision increased its weeknight primetime audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+12% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+19% to 552,000) and Adults 18-34 (+18% to 220,000).
- At 8 p.m., “La Reina Soy Yo” averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (+4% to 519,000) than the prior week. The series also drew in more young Adult 18-34 (211,000) viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Family Food Fight,” “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Reef Break;” CBS’ “Blood & Treasure,” “Elementary,” “Life In Pieces” and “The Good Fight;” NBC’s “Inbetween;” FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance;” as well as The CW’s “Big Stage,” “Burden of Truth,” “In The Dark,” “IZombie,” “Jane the Virgin,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Hundred” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”
- At 9 p.m., “Silvia Pinal Frente A Ti” attracted 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 475,000 Adults 18-49 and 169,000 Adults 18-34 during its two-hour finale on Monday night. The bio-epic series also positioned Univision among the top-rated broadcast networks for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over CBS (+22% adv.) and The CW (+60% adv.) among Adults 18-34.
- At 10 pm., “Por Amar Sin Ley” has consistently increased its audience over the last two weeks among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.2 million), Adults 18-49 (+7% to 473,000) and Adults 18-34 (+14% to 196,000). For the third consecutive week, the legal drama series also outperformed The CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Big Stage,” “Burden of Truth,” “In The Dark,” “IZombie,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Hundred” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”
- On Wednesday night, Univision captured the No. 4 broadcast network ranking, ahead of CBS, NBC and The CW for the entire night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup matchup between Mexico and Canada delivered 2.7 million Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the No. 1 program on broadcast television with both Adults 18-49 (1.4 million) and Adults 18-34 (570,000).
- Airing from 7:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, Univision’s live coverage of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament featuring the United States vs. Trinidad and Tobago averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+26% to 809,000), Adults 18-49 (+48% to 343,000) and Adults 18-34 (+50% to 129,000) to the network’s time period compared to the same night last year. The sports event also made Univision one of the top-rated broadcast networks for the entire night, outperforming ABC and CBS among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 as well as out-delivered Telemundo by +17% among Total Viewers 2+.
