Univision Delivers Double-Digit Weeknight Primetime Audience Growth Across Key Demos and Finishes Ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX Across Every Night Last Week with Adults 18-34
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of June 10, 2019 to June 16, 2019
- On Saturday night, Univision kicked off the start of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament and captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and Telemundo for the entire night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Canada vs. Martinica attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+34% to 660,000), Adults 18-49 (+51% to 292,000) and Adults 18-34 (+24% to 148,000) to the network’s 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. time slot from the prior Saturday. The second matchup of the night between Mexico and Cuba delivered 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the No. 1 program on broadcast television with both Adults 18-49 (931,000) and Adults 18-34 (395,000). The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+63% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+60% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+44% adv.).
- Univision finished ahead of The CW in primetime with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 459,000 Adults 18-49 and 192,000 Adults 18-34, marking the 38th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on every night last week among Adults 18-34 and on four out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
- From Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+4% to 1.2 million), Adults 18-49 (+11% to 462,000) and Adults 18-34 (+17% to 186,000).
- At 8 p.m., “La Reina Soy Yo” delivered audience gains from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.2 million), Adults 18-49 (+9% to 501,000) and Adults 18-34 (+11% to 220,000), positioning Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the fifth consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo’s “Un Poquito Tuyo” among Total Viewers 2+ (+29% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+24% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+18% adv.).
- At 9 p.m., “Silvia Pinal Frente A Ti” averaged 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-over-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+9% to 444,000) and Adults 18-34 (+20% to 168,000). It also propelled Univision to the fifth-place broadcast network ranking in the 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot, out-delivering CBS (+32% adv.) and The CW (+133% adv.).
- At 10 p.m., “Por Amar Sin Ley” attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+6% to 1.1 million), Adults 18-49 (+15% to 440,000) and Adults 18-34 (+22% to 170,000). The legal drama series also made Univision one of the top-rated broadcast networks during the weeknight 10pm hour with double-digit audience advantages of +28% over CBS among Adults 18-34.
- For the second consecutive week, Univision’s weeknight series, “La Reina Soy Yo,” “Silvia Pinal Frente A Ti,” and “Por Amar Sin Ley” averaged more Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 viewers than The CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Big Stage,” “Burden of Truth,” “In the Dark,” “IZombie,” “Jane the Virgin,” “Masters of Illusion” and “The Hundred.”
- With continued live coverage of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, Univision finished ahead of CBS and The CW on Sunday night. Airing from 8:01 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the matchup between Costa Rica and Nicaragua drew in 821,000 Total Viewers 2+, 398,000 Adults 18-49 and 180,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the time period, outperforming Telemundo by +18% among Total Viewers 2+, +28% among Adults 18-49 and +13% among Adults 18-34.
