Univision Delivers Week-Over-Week Audience Growth During Primetime Among Key Demos

With week-to-week audience growth, Univision finished as the 5th most-watched broadcast network during primetime, ahead of The CW with 570,000 Adults 18-49 and 227,000 Adults 18-34, marking fifth consecutive week. This also marked the 19th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season that Univision has out-delivered The CW in primetime among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers 2+.

Sunday night’s two-hour semi-finale of Univision’s “Mira Quién Baila All Stars” airing from 8pm to 10pm:

  • Averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 601,000 Adults 18-49 and 243,000 Adults 18-34, increasing the network’s 8pm to 10pm time slot by double to triple-digit margins versus comparable Sunday last year.
  • Positioned Univision as the No. 2 broadcast network, ahead of ABC, NBC, FOX, The CW and Telemundo among Adults 18 to 49.
  • Outperformed CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Supergirl” and “Charmed” for the third straight week among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • Made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network on television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo in the time period (+40% adv.) and for the entire night (+14% adv.) in the last thirteen Sundays among Total Viewers 2+.

Driven by the two-hour semi-finale of “Mira Quien Baila All Stars,” Univision ranked as the No. 3 broadcast network on Super Bowl Sunday, outperforming ABC, NBC, FOX and The CW with both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 on Sunday night from 7pm to 11pm.

Marking second consecutive week, Univision delivered week-over-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+2% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+7% to 638,000) and Adults 18-34 (+4% to 251,000) from Monday to Friday 8pm to 11pm while also positioned it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+29% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+24% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+19% adv.).

On Tuesday night, Univision ranked as the No. 2 broadcast network for the entire night, out-performing ABC, CBS, FOX, The CW and Telemundo during primetime with Adults 18-34.  Univision also finished as the No. 3 broadcast network on this night from 8pm to 11pm, ahead of ABC, FOX, The CW and Telemundo with 18 to 49 viewers.

Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights among Adults 18-34.

Univision also ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime, outperforming Telemundo by double-digit audience advantages among Adults 18-49 (+13% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+22% adv.) and by a +8% advantage with 18 to 34 viewers.  This marks the fifth consecutive week that Univision outperforms Telemundo across all three key demographic groups.

At 8 p.m., “Jesus” reported week-to-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+1% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+5% to 582,000) and Adults 18-34 (+3% to 215,000) and outperformed Telemundo in the time period by double-digit margins among Adults 18-49 (+13% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+22% adv.).

Airing weeknights at 9 p.m., “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” reported its highest-rated weekly performance since premiering on September 11, 2018 with strong week-to-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.6 million), Adults 18-49 (+13% to 669,000) and Adults 18-34 (+10% to 269,000). The dramedy made Univision the No. 2 broadcast network in the 9pm hour, outperforming ABC, CBS, FOX, The CW and Telemundo on Tuesday night among Adults 18-34.  For the entire week, “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” out-delivered Telemundo’s 9pm series, “Jugar Con Fuego,” by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+28% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+23% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+20% adv.).

At 10 p.m., “Amar A Muerte” delivered 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 665,000 Adults 18-49 and 269,000 Adults 18-34, marking highest-rated week among Adults 18-49 with a +4% increase over prior week.  The supernatural series also positioned Univision as the No. 2 broadcast network in the 10pm hour on both Tuesday (ahead of ABC, CBS and Telemundo) and Wednesday night (ahead of ABC, NBC and Telemundo) with Adults 18 to 34. For the entire week, “Amar A Muerte” outperformed Telemundo with a line-up that included the finale of “Señora Acero V” and premiere of “El Baron” head-to-head in the Monday through Friday 10pm hour, on average, by +39% among Total Viewers 2+, +37% among Adults 18-49 and +43% among Adults 18-34, marking 14th consecutive week.

  • On Tuesday night, “Amar A Muerte” out-delivered Telemundo’s finale of “Señora Acero V” by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+30% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+40% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+41% adv.).
  • On Wednesday night, “Amar A Muerte” out-performed the premiere of Telemundo’s “El Baron” with double-digit audience advantages among Total Viewers 2+ (+39% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+34% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+30% adv.).

Univision’s “Mi Marido Tiene Mas Familia” and “Amar A Muerte” drew in more 18 to 34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat,” “How To Get Away With Murder,” “MatchGame” and “Speechless;” CBS’ “MacGyver;” NBC’s “Will & Grace,” “Blacklist” and “Blindspot;” FOX’s “The Orville” as well as CW’s “Supernatural,” “Legacies,” “Roswell New Mexico,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “All American,” “Dynasty,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Supergirl” and “Charmed.”   Additionally, “Mi Marido Tiene Mas Familia” and “Amar A Muerte” attracted more Adults 18 to 49 than first -run episodes of ABC’s “Speechless;” NBC’s “Blindspot” as well as CW’s “Riverdale,” “Supernatural,” “Arrow,” “Roswell New Mexico,” “Legacies,” “Black Lightning,” “All American,” “Dynasty,” “Supergirl,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and “Charmed.”
