“PJ Takeover” Will Kick Off the Night Followed by the Three-Hour Main Event at 7 p.m. (6 CT) on Univision
WHAT: Univision’s highly anticipated “Premios Juventud” will celebrate the best of Latin music featuring a star-studded lineup that will deliver six world premieres, eight TV exclusives, and more memorable performances. The celebration, on Thursday, July 22 will begin at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 CT) with “PJ Takeover,” immediately followed by the three-hour show.
Continuing with Univision’s commitment to empower and entertain the audience and shed light on Cuba’s humanitarian crisis, PJ will include two powerful musical performances and special appearances by superstar Camila Cabello, acclaimed musician and producer Emilio Estefan, and global icon Pitbull. Musical performances will feature Joncien, Lena, Malena Burke, and Yailenys Pérezperforming “Libertad,” while Gente de Zona and Yotuel will do a special rendition of their anthem of freedom “Patria y Vida.”
Summer’s hottest party will open with reggaeton superstar Myke Towers and Latin sensation, and host, Sebastián Yatra, performing their hit “Pareja del Año,” followed by global superstar Pitbull and reggaeton heavyweights El Alfa, Farruko, IAmChino, and Omar Courtz performing “Ten Cuidado.” Then popular Mr. Worldwide will conclude the number with an exclusive tease of his next single, and tour, “I Feel Good.”
The awaited celebration will feature other show-stopper moments like the reunion of beloved duo Chino y Nacho and a multi-generational number by Pepe Aguilar, Angela Aguilar, and Leonardo Aguilar performing classic mariachi songs. The night will also include world premieres by superstars Gloria Trevi, Myke Towers, Natti Natasha, Tainy and Yandel, and Tommy Torres. To top it all, the TV exclusive presentations include “Loco” by Chimbala, Justin Quiles, and Zion & Lennox; “200 Copas” by KAROL G, “Fulanito” by Becky G and El Alfa, and “Todo o Nada” by Anitta and Lunay. The viewers will also see a historic performance by mega popular band CNCO as they kick off a new era from PJ.
PJ will bestow the “Agent of Change” award to three young Hispanics who are leaving their mark in their community and the world. This year’s honorees are:
- Steven Ferreiro (Miami): Founder of Giving Hope and Helping Others. Recently, he has been supporting first respondents to the tragedy in Miami Beach by bringing them lunch.
- Daphne Frias (New York City): is a social activist who advocates for immigrant rights and against gun and domestic violence.
- Tanisha Gaspar Clemente (Puerto Rico) is dedicated to education and works with children, teenagers, and single mothers.
As previously announced, global superstar Daddy Yankee will receive the prestigious award for his efforts to combat world hunger and helping rebuild houses for families affected by the destructive path of Hurricane Maria.
