New Series Bests CBS Among Adults 18-34 at 10 p.m.; Outperforms Telemundo By Double-Digit Audience Advantages Across All Key Demos in Timeslot
“El Dragón” Leads Univision to No. 1 Broadcast Station Ranking in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Chicago Among Adults 18-34 During Time Period, Regardless of Language
MIAMI – OCTOBER 1, 2019 – Univision’s premiere of its epic, action-packed original series “El Dragón” struck fast with viewers, reaching 2.5 Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of the one-hour telecast. Featuring the return of international superstar Sebastian Rulli and co-star Renata Notni, “El Dragón” averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 638,000 Adults 18-49 and 211,000 Adults 18-34 from 10 – 11 p.m. ET/PT (9 p.m. Central). The series positioned Univision ahead of CBS during the premiere and for the entire night, outperforming first-run episodes of “Bob Hearts Abishola,” “All Rise” and “Bull” among Adults 18-34.
“El Dragón,” an original story written by renowned author Arturo Perez-Reverte, ranks as the highest-rated 10 p.m. novela/series premiere in 2019 thus far on the Univision Network among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. In fact, “El Dragón” is the highest-rated novela/series premiere in its timeslot on the network since the October 29, 2018 premiere of Univision’s smash-hit “Amar a Muerte” in key demos.
A first of its kind jet setting, global crime melodrama, “El Dragón” slayed the Spanish-language competition head-to-head, delivering significantly more Total Viewers 2+ (+69% advantage), Adults 18-49 (+72% advantage) and Adults 18-34 (+32% advantage) than Telemundo’s premiere of “No Te Puedes Esconder.” Additionally, the series attracted more Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 than Telemundo’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Exatlon Estados Unidos,” “El Final del Paraiso” and “No Te Puedes Esconder.” Overall, Univision’s primetime lineup featuring “La Rosa de Guadalupe,” “La Usurpadora” and “El Dragón” out-delivered Telemundo by double-digits among Total Viewers 2+ (+31% advantage), Adults 18-49 (+36% advantage) and Adults 18-34 (+36% advantage) to propel the network to the No. 1 ranking on Spanish-language television for the entire night.
