KWEX 41 Univision San Antonio opened its doors for the first time 60 years ago. On Friday, June 26 and Sunday, June 28, 2015, our station celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a two-day event at the Hispanic Market Square and Trader’s Village in San Antonio, Texas with the community as our guests of honor.

Our guests were joined on Friday by San Antonio Mayor Ivy R. Taylor, Univision Board member Henry Cisneros, Chief Marketing Officer of Univision Communications, Jessica Rodriguez, alongside co-host of Univision’s “El Gordo y La Flaca” Lili Estefan, our News Anchor Jorge Nuñez, and renowned artist Anel Flores, among others. Sunday’s celebration brought senior special correspondent for “Noticero Univision” Maria Antonieta Collins, weekend anchor and reporter for KWEX 41 KEYHLA, on-air deejay for KXTN 107.5 Baby J-Nights plus performances from La Fiebre Kolombiana, Kat deLuna, and La Original Banda Limón, just to name a few.

I invite you to click here to view the best moments of our two-day celebration.

The station’s first television broadcast was on June 10, 1955, making it the first, full-time, Spanish-language television station and the first UHF channel in the continental United States. Since its inception,  our local station has become an integral force in shaping the industry in San Antonio and across the nation.
