MIAMI, FL – JANUARY 11, 2012 – In its first week, the Univision Network’s newest novela “La Que No Podia Amar” (The One That Couldn’t Love) strengthened Univision’s standing in the competitive broadcast primetime ratings race as it delivered an average audience of 4.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.4 million Adults 18-49 and 1.4 million Adults 18-34
“La Que No Podia Amar” delivered more viewers in comparsion to the first five telecasts of its 9 p.m. predecessor “La Fuerza del Destino” (“The Power of Destiny”). This includes double-digit percentage growth in the time period among Total Viewers 2+ (+10%), Adults 18-49 (+11%) and Adults 18-34 (+18%).
In fact, “La Que No Podia Amar” averaged more Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 than the first five airings of four out of the Top 5 novelas of all-time, which includes “Amor Real” (Real Love), “Soy Tu Dueña” (Woman of Steel), “Destilando Amor” (Distilling Love) and “Rubi.”
As Univision’s most-watched primetime program last week, “La Que No Podia Amar” also ranked strongly among the top-rated programs on all of broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than ABC’s season opener of “The Bachelor,” “Private Practice” and “Revenge;” CBS’ “The Good Wife” and “NCIS: Los Angeles;” and NBC’s “Fear Factor,” the premiere of “The Firm” and “Parenthood.”
A story of passion, betrayal and unrequited love, “La Que No Podía Amar” follows a young woman’s struggle to be reunited with her true love. The Televisa production stars Ana Brenda Contreras, Jorge Salinas, José Ron and “Nuestra Belleza Latina” judge Julián Gil, in his highly anticipated return to novelas following his role in Univision’s original production “Eva Luna.”
