Univision Outperforms Telemundo by Double-Digits Across All Key Dayparts including Primetime and Total Day Among Adults 18-49
The Leading Spanish-Language Network Continues to Deliver Industry-Leading Content, Drawing Record Audiences for CONMEBOL Copa América Coverage
MIAMI – JULY 3, 2024 – Univision finished second quarter of 2024 as the #1 network on all of television among U.S. Hispanics in primetime and total day for the 32nd consecutive time among Total Viewers. The leading Spanish-language network outperformed Telemundo by double-digits across all key dayparts including primetime (+16% advantage) and total day (+21% advantage) among Adults 18-49.
Univision delivered 1.1 million Total Viewers and 346,000 Adults 18-49, consistently increasing its primetime audience throughout second quarter of 2024 with double-digit growth in June versus April among Total Viewers (up 15%) and Adults 18-49 (up 39%).
TelevisaUnivision’s expansive coverage of CONMEBOL Copa America, airing across Univision, TUDN, UniMáS and ViX, continues to deliver record viewership. In the second quarter, the tournament was up +63% versus 2021’s group stage delivery, and outperformed the competition by +45%, averaging 1.48 million Total Viewers per game. Copa America 2024 has delivered five of the top 10 programs on Spanish-language television this year. Action continues this week with quarterfinals airing across Univision, TUDN and UniMás. Semifinals will air Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10, with the title game set for Sunday, July 14.
This year’s “Campeón de Campeones,” Liga MX’s tentpole event in the U.S. which featured a match between Club América and Tigres, saw a 45% increase in viewership, averaging 827,000 Total Viewers.
As 2024 presidential election cycle ramps up, more U.S. Hispanics turn to Univision than any other network. “Noticiero Univision” delivered 1.1 million Total Viewers, 368,000 Adults 25-54 and 276,000 Adults 18-49 in the second quarter of 2024, leading “Noticias Telemundo” by double-digit audience advantages across key demos. The evening newscast boasted more U.S. Hispanic Adult 18-49 viewers than the combined audience of ABC’s “World News Tonight,” “CBS Evening News” and NBC’s “Nightly News.”
Univision continues to deliver industry-leading content including the 9th Annual Latin American Music Awards, which made history as the first-ever bilingual awards show. The broadcast network is home to the most popular entertainment programs on all of television, with 33 out of the top 50 among U.S. Hispanic Adults 18-49 during second quarter of 2024.
TelevisaUnivision networks – Univision, UniMás, Galavision, Galanovelas and TUDN, reported consecutive monthly growth in its audience share of total television and Spanish-language television in primetime and total day throughout second quarter of 2024. On Spanish-language television, TelevisaUnivision networks delivered 60% of the total day viewing among Adults 18-49, higher than first quarter of 2024.
