The Award-Winning ViX Original Movie Will Premiere January 26 on the service´s premium tier
In Mexico, it became the highest-grossing local-language theatrical release since the pandemic, and in the U.S., it was the top-earning Spanish-language movie since March 2019
MIAMI – DECEMBER 13, 2023 – ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, announced today that RADICAL, its original film, a box office hit acclaimed by critics starring Eugenio Derbez,will premiere on the service’s premium tier on January 26. RADICAL became the highest-grossing local-language theatrical release since the pandemic in Mexico, and the top-earning Spanish-language movie in the U.S. since March 2019.
Based on a true story, RADICAL follows Sergio Juarez Correa (Derbez), a frustrated teacher in a Mexican border town plagued by neglect, corruption, and violence who tries a radical new method to unleash the curiosity and potential of his students.
RADICAL stars Eugenio Derbez, Daniel Haddad and Jennifer Trejo; is written and directed by Christopher Zalla; produced by 3Pas studio co-founders Ben Odell, Eugenio Derbez as well as Joshua Davis who wrote the Wired Magazine article the film is based on.
The ViX Original film was distributed theatrically by TelevisaUnivision’s Pantelion Films and Participantand has garnered multiple awards at this year’s film festivals, including Sundance Film Festival’s top audience prize:

Derbez has recently received honors for his career and philanthropy including the Icon Award by the Newport Beach Film Festival for his contribution to iconic roles in the industry. He received the Social Impact Award from the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and was honored with the Variety Legends and Groundbreakers Award. Earlier this month, Derbez was honored by Marc Anthony through his foundation Maestro Cares with the Voice of Change award.

MIAMI –13 DE DICIEMBRE DE 2023– ViX, el servicio de streaming en español líder en el mundo, anunció hoy que RADICAL, su película Original y éxito taquillero aclamada por la crítica protagonizada por Eugenio Derbez, se estrenará en el nivel premium del servicio el 26 de enero. RADICAL fue la película en idioma local más taquillera en los cines de México desde la pandemia, y la película en español con más altas ventas desde marzo de 2019 en Estados Unidos.
RADICAL, basada en una historia de la vida real, narra cómo Sergio Juárez Correa (Derbez), un maestro frustrado en un pueblito fronterizo de México aquejado por el descuido, la corrupción y la violencia, prueba un método radical y nuevo para despertar la curiosidad y dar rienda suelta al potencial de sus alumnos.
Los protagonistas de RADICAL son Eugenio Derbez, Daniel Haddad y Jennifer Trejo; su guionista y director es Christopher Zalla; la produjeron los fundadores de 3Pas studio,Ben Odell y Eugenio Derbez, además de Joshua Davis, quien escribió el artículo de la revista Wired en el que se basa la película.
La película original de ViX fue distribuida en cines por Pantelion Films de TelevisaUnivision y Participant, y ha ganado muchos galardones en los festivales de cine de este año, entre ellos el principal premio de la audiencia del Festival de Cine Sundance:
