Jacob to Transform the Company’s Engineering Function and Lead Platform Integrations
MIAMI – AUGUST 25, 2022 – TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company, has appointed Ralf Jacob as Executive Vice President of Global Broadcast Engineering, reporting directly to Wade Davis, Chief Executive Officer of TelevisaUnivision, Alfonso de Angoitia, Executive Chairman of the Board of TelevisaUnivision and Co-CEO of TelevisaUnivision Mexico, and Bernardo Gómez, Co-CEO of TelevisaUnivision Mexico.
In his new role, Jacob will serve as the key technology leader responsible for implementing the company’s global engineering transformation, by enabling cloud integration and other leading-edge technologies for the distribution of TelevisaUnivision’s content on all platforms. Jacob will also oversee the company’s strategic partnership with Google around all content supply-chain technology, focused on streamlining media infrastructure to ensure efficiencies, stability, and scalability globally.

Jacob joins the TelevisaUnivision team from Verizon Digital Media Services (VDMS), where he served as
Chief Revenue Officer, then President. There, he led the efforts to grow VDMS’s streaming business by over 300% and achieved 12% of the world’s internet traffic flow through VDMS, and managed over 45,000 live-event broadcasts, including some of the world’s largest sports and musical franchises. Previously, Jacob was Chief Executive Officer of upLynk, which VDMS later acquired. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Computer Science from Fachhochschule Wiesbaden, Germany.

MIAMI – 25 DE AGOSTO DE 2022 – TelevisaUnivision, la compañía de medios y contenidos en español líder en el mundo, ha nombrado a Ralf Jacob como Executive Vice President of Global Broadcast Engineering, reportando directamente a Wade Davis, Chief Executive Officer of TelevisaUnivision, a Alfonso de Angoitia, Executive Chairman of the Board of TelevisaUnivision y Co-CEO of TelevisaUnivision Mexico, y a Bernardo Gómez, Co-CEO of TelevisaUnivision Mexico.
En su nuevo cargo, Jacob se desempeñará como el líder tecnológico clave responsable de implementar la transformación de ingeniería global de la compañía, al permitir la integración en la nube y otras tecnologías de vanguardia para la distribución del contenido de TelevisaUnivision en todas las plataformas. Jacob también supervisará la asociación estratégica de la empresa con Google en torno a toda la tecnología de la cadena de suministro de contenido, centrada en optimizar la infraestructura de medios para garantizar la eficiencia, la estabilidad y la escalabilidad a nivel mundial.

Jacob se une al equipo de TelevisaUnivision tras formar parte de Verizon Digital Media Services (VDMS), donde se desempeñó como Chief Revenue Officer, y luego como Presidente. Allí, dirigió los esfuerzos para hacer crecer el negocio de streaming de VDMS en más de un 300% y consiguió que el 12% del tráfico mundial de Internet fluyera a través de VDMS, además gestionó más de 45.000 transmisiones de eventos en vivo, incluyendo algunas de las franquicias deportivas y musicales más importantes del mundo. Anteriormente, Jacob fue Chief Executive Officer de upLynk, que posteriormente adquirió VDMS. Se licenció en marketing e informática en la Fachhochschule Wiesbaden (Alemania).
