NEW YORK – JULY 10, 2018 – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that the Company has initiated a formal process to explore the sale of the assets comprising the Gizmodo Media Group (GMG) and The Onion. The Company determined that pursuing a sale of GMG and The Onion collectively will allow UCI to focus on its core assets and further strengthen UCI’s position as the No. 1 media company serving U.S. Hispanics, while enabling both GMG and The Onion even greater opportunities to grow under new ownership.
The GMG digital portfolio includes Gizmodo, Jezebel, Deadspin, Lifehacker, Splinter, The Root, Kotaku, Earther and Jalopnik and The Onion portfolio includes, The Onion, Clickhole, The A.V. Club and The Takeout.
There is no assurance that the process to explore the sale of these assets will result in any transaction or the adoption of any other strategic alternative.
UCI has engaged Morgan Stanley as financial advisor to assist in the process.

Univision Explorará la Venta Potencial de Gizmodo Media Group y The Onion
NUEVA YORK –10 DE JULIO DE 2018– Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en Estados Unidos, anunció hoy que la Compañía ha iniciado un proceso formal para explorar la venta de los activos que constituyen Gizmodo Media Group (GMG) y The Onion. La Compañía decidió que procurar la venta de GMG y The Onion conjuntamente permitirá que UCI se centre en sus propiedades principales, y reforzará más la posición de UCI como la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de los hispanos en Estados Unidos, a la vez que tanto GMG como The Onion tendrán incluso mayores oportunidades de crecimiento con propietarios nuevos.
La cartera digital de GMG incluye Gizmodo, Jezebel, Deadspin, Lifehacker, Splinter, The Root, Kotaku, Earther y Jalopnik; y la cartera de The Onion incluye The Onion, Clickhole, The A.V. Club y The Takeout.
