UniMás Premieres “La Niña,” a Powerful Story Based on Real-Life Events About the Reintegration of a Child Soldier into Society
A former guerrilla fighter tries to overcome her past and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor in “La Niña,” scheduled to premiere Monday, December 4th at 8p.m. ET/PT 7p.m. CT
WHAT: The UniMás Network announces the premiere of “La Niña,” a fictionalized dramatic series inspired on the true story of a young former guerilla fighter with an exceptional talent for medicine who faces many challenges as she reintegrates into society and tries to overcome her traumatic past to become a doctor. “La Niña” comes to the UniMás primetime lineup Monday through Friday starting December 4th.
“La Niña” tells the story of Belky, later known as “alias Sara” (Ana María Estupiñán), a very strong and loving young woman who is forced to join an illegal armed group as a child, experiencing the horror of war first hand. After many years, she manages to leave the guerilla group to embark on the difficult path of returning to a society that is anything but welcoming. In the process, Belky encounters many obstacles and faces rejection by many people, including her own family. But she finds strength thanks to the help of Manuel (Sebastián Eslava), a victim of war who was handed over to the paramilitaries by his family when he was a teenager, and is also trying to reintegrate into society. With his help, she decides to study medicine. Despite many difficulties, Belky is accepted into the faculty, but painful memories continue to haunt her. Now to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor, she must confront the evil Colonel Barragán (Diego Vasquez), her worst enemy, and leave her past behind.

QUÉ: La Cadena UniMás anuncia el estreno de “La Niña”, una serie dramática con toques de ficción inspirada en la historia de la vida real de una joven ex guerrillera con un talento excepcional para la medicina que enfrenta muchos desafíos cuando se reintegra a la sociedad y trata de superar su pasado traumático para convertirse en médico. “La Niña” se une a la programación de horario estelar de UniMás de lunes a viernes a partir del 4 de diciembre.
“La Niña” cuenta la historia de Belky, también conocida como “alias Sara” (Ana María Estupiñán), una joven fuerte y bondadosa que es forzada de niña a unirse a un grupo armado ilegal y presencia los horrores de la guerra. Después de muchos años, logra abandonar al grupo guerrillero para emprender el difícil camino de volver a una sociedad muy poco acogedora con ella. En el proceso, Belky enfrenta muchos obstáculos y el rechazo de muchas personas, incluidos sus familiares. Pero se vuelve fuerte gracias a la ayuda de Manuel (Sebastián Eslava), una víctima de la guerra que de adolescente fue entregado por su familia a los paramilitares y también trata de reintegrarse a la sociedad. Con su ayuda, ella decide estudiar medicina. A pesar de muchas dificultades, aceptan a Belky a la facultad, pero ella sigue teniendo recuerdos dolorosos.
