MIAMI, FL – JANUARY 10, 2017 –Univision Network and UniMás announce a legendary night of two back-to-back simulcast premieres of inspiring stories of beloved idols. The great event begins with the untold story of the late Jenni Rivera, the exceptional artist and mother in “Su nombre era Dolores, la Jenn que yo conocí.” Following the two-hour premiere, is the real life story of a legendary luchador, “Blue Demon,” the first bio-series about a lucha libre idol, one of the most popular and long-lasting traditions of Mexico. Both series focus on the hard-fought journey to success of these exceptional artists in their respective competitive fields.

The series, “Su nombre era Dolores, la Jenn que yo conocí” (Her name was Dolores, the Jenn I knew), narrates the story of the “Diva de la Banda,” Jenni Rivera, and is based on the book written by executive producer Pete Salgado, her best friend, who worked closely with Rivera during her last years and supported her in her fight to succeed in an industry dominated by men. The series features a theme song written and performed by the late singer’s brother, Lupillo Rivera, in her honor. Luz Ramos plays the beloved Jenni, and Javier Díaz Dueñas plays Pete Salgado. The series, which was filmed in both Los Angeles and Mexico, will also feature stellar performances by Geraldine Galván, Marianna Burelli, Luis Felipe Tovar, Maria Rojo, Tomás Goros, Rubén Zamora, Alex Pera, Enrique Arreola, Regina Orozco and Juan Soler, among others. “Blue Demon” is the real life family-friendly story of a legendary luchador, Alejandro Muñoz, exploring a complex and turbulent world that very few know about. Lucha Libre is among the most popular and long lasting traditions in Mexico, and Muñoz is one of its biggest legends. Fans will get a behind-the-scenes look at the man behind the blue mask- his early life, his motivation for pursuing a career in this beloved sport, his trajectory and personal highs, lows and in particular, his love life. Alejandro Muñoz Moreno overcame enormous odds to become the World Wrestling Champion under the name Blue Demon. The series begins in Nuevo León, where a young Alejandro, the son of farmers and the fifth of 12 children, dreams of a bigger life than his small hometown. Years later, after setting off to live with an uncle and working on the railroad in Monterrey, a strong and strapping young man has a chance meeting with a famous wrestler, Ignacio Vera, who piques his interest in the colorful national sport of freestyle wrestling, “Lucha Libre.” Alejandro sets out on an incredible journey, conquering his fears and confronting personal demons, to ultimately become one of the most revered masked wrestlers of all time. The series stars beloved telenovela actress, Ana Brenda Contreras, in a very different role as “Goyita” the love interest of Blue Demon played by Tenoch Huerta and also features Joaquín Cosío, Ana Layevska and Alejandro de Marino as Franklin Fernández. El gran evento se inicia con la historia inédita de la fallecida Jenni Rivera, la excepcional artista y madre, conocida como “La Diva de la Banda” en “Su nombre era Dolores, la Jenn que yo conocí”. Después del estreno de dos horas sigue la historia real de la vida del legendario luchador “Blue Demon”, la primera serie biográfica sobre un ídolo de la lucha libre, una de las más populares y duraderas tradiciones en México. Ambas series tratan sobre el arduo recorrido de estos excepcionales ídolos en sus respectivos campos tan competitivos.
