Broadcast of the Tournament Delivered More Viewers than Every NBA and NHL Game Last Week

NEW YORK – DECEMBER 7, 2016 – Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), that includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language cable sports network, delivered strong results with its sports content of the Liga MX Semifinals. The Liga MX Apertura 2016 semifinals began Wednesday, November 30, with a two-game series for each semifinal match, kicked off by Tigres UANL taking on seven-time champion León on UDN. The semifinal stage of the tournament delivered more viewers than every NBA and NHL game last week on any network, regardless of language.

Thursday’s first leg match between Necaxa and América on UDN, delivered 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+ and 705,000 Adults 18-49, making it the most-rated Apertura Semifinal match in UDN’s history – outperforming Monterrey versus América’s December 2014 match.

On Sunday, Liga MX Semifinal second leg match between Necaxa and América on Univision Network drew in an astounding 2.8 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.6 million Adults 18-49. This was the top-rated match of the current Apertura 2016 season. Additionally, this was the most-watched Liga MX Semifinal round match in over nine years, since América and Chivas played in the 2007 Clausura Semifinal round on Univision. The telecast outperformed both legs of the América versus Chivas Quarterfinal match up.

Tigres and América advanced to the 2016 Liga MX Apertura final, which is set to broadcast exclusively on Univision Network on Thursday, December 22 and Sunday, December 25.
