América, Chivas, León, Necaxa, Pachuca, Tigres, Tijuana and Pumas to compete for the first division trophy
WHAT:
Liga MX fans will be able to give thanks this week as well as catch the best plays of Mexican club soccer LIVE on Univision networks starting on Wednesday, November 23rd, with coverage by its all-star team of sportscasters. Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) that also includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network, today announced the broadcast schedule for the playoff stage of the Apertura 2016 tournament.
The 18 teams of Liga MX, Mexico’s top professional league and the most-watched soccer league in the U.S., have been whittled down to an elite eight, which will now battle each other in the Liguilla. Traditional powerhouses and biggest Mexican rivals, Chivas and América will be joined by Pachuca, the Clausura 2016 champion, along with León, Necaxa, Pumas, Tijuana and Tigres.
On Thursday and Sunday, fans will take sides in the hotly anticipated “Súper Clásico,” as Chivas and América face-off for the second time in league quarterfinals this year. “The Súper Clásico” will air live on Univision with a simulcast on UDN. Fans can tune in to Mexico’s biggest soccer rivalry beginning at 10:25 p.m. ET/7:25 p.m. PT on Thursday and at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT on Sunday.
Coverage of all matches will continue through Sunday, November 27, which will decide who will continue on to the Semifinals scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 30 and Thursday, December 1, followed by the Liga MX Apertura 2016 Final on Sunday, December 11.
Coverage will include play-by-play, commentary and highlights by UDN’s team of soccer experts, including Pablo Ramirez, Enrique “Perro” Bermúdez, and Luis Omar Tapia, among others.

Los fans de la Liga MX van a poder dar las gracias esta semana mientras ven las mejores jugadas de fútbol de clubes mexicanos EN VIVO por las cadenas de Univision a partir del miércoles, 23 de noviembre, con cobertura de su equipo estelar de locutores deportivos. Univision Deportes, la división deportiva multimedia de Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) que también incluye UDN, la cadena No. 1 de deportes en español, anunció hoy el horario de trasmisión de la etapa eliminatoria del Torneo Apertura 2016.
Los 18 equipos de la Liga MX, la principal liga profesional de México y la liga de fútbol más vista en los Estados Unidos, han sido reducidos a una élite de ocho, que ahora lucharán entre sí en la Liguilla. Los mayores rivales mexicanos, Chivas y América se unirán a Pachuca, campeón Clausura 2016, junto con León, Necaxa, Pumas, Tijuana y Tigres.
El jueves y el domingo, los fans tomarán partido en el esperado “Súper Clásico,” mientras Chivas y América se enfrentan por segunda vez en cuartos de final de la liga este año. “El Súper Clásico” se transmitirá en directo en Univision y UDN. Los aficionados pueden sintonizar la mayor rivalidad futbolística de México a partir de las 10:25 p.m. hora del Este/7:25 p.m. Pacífico el jueves ya las 6:00 p.m. hora del Este/3:00 p.m. Pacífico el domingo.
La cobertura de todos los partidos continuará hasta el domingo, 27 de noviembre, en la cual se decidirá quién continuará a las Semifinales programadas para el miércoles 30 de noviembre y el jueves 1 de diciembre, seguido de la Liga MX Apertura 2016 el domingo 11 de diciembre.
