WHAT: “Galerías Velvet”, a high-end fashion house in ’50s/’60s Spain, is the setting for this stylish story of powerful young love that has captivated audiences in Spain and around the world. An exceptionally lavish production featuring art deco inspired sets and authentic period soundtrack, “Velvet” will make its debut Tuesday, October 4, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT (8:00 p.m. Central).
Alberto (played by striking galán Miguel Ángel Silvestre of Sense8) and Ana (Paula Echeverría) meet as children, after Ana’s mother dies and she is forced to move to the big city to live with the only family she has left, her uncle Don Emilio (José Sacristán), the head of staff at Galerías Velvet. As the heir to the fashion empire Alberto’s budding love for Ana was forbidden by Don Rafael, Alberto’s father, and he is sent to study abroad.
When Alberto returns to take over the family business and get the love of his life back, jealous relatives and other outside forces keep interfering. In a world of haute-couture dresses and cutthroat competition, Alberto and Ana have to fight not only for their long-awaited life together, but for the very life of Galerías Velvet itself – even if it means Alberto entering into a loveless marriage of convenience. While Alberto rebels against the expectations made of him, Ana dreams of becoming a designer and struggles to assert herself as a creative personality. And both must defy the outdated conventions of a society resistant to change.

QUÉ: Galerías Velvet, una casa de alta costura en los años 50 y 60 en España, es el trasfondo para esta elegante historia de un amor joven e intenso que ha cautivado a la audiencia en España y todo el mundo. “Velvet”, una producción excepcionalmente lujosa con atuendos magníficos, sets de inspiración art deco y auténtica música de la época, se estrenará el martes, 4 de octubre a las 9:00 p.m. Este/Pacífico (8:00 p.m. Centro).
Alberto (interpretado por el apuesto galán Miguel Ángel Silvestre de Sense8) y Ana (Paula Echeverría) se conocen de niños, después de que la madre de Ana muere. Esta se ve forzada a mudarse a la ciudad y vivir con la única familia que le queda, su tío Don Emilio (José Sacristán), quien está a cargo del personal de Galerías Velvet. Al ser Alberto el heredero del imperio de la moda, Don Rafael, su padre, prohíbe el amor que aquel comienza a sentir por Ana y lo manda a estudiar al extranjero.
Cuando Alberto regresa para hacerse cargo del negocio de la familia y recuperar el amor de su vida, parientes celosos y otras fuerzas externas interfieren constantemente. En un mundo de vestidos de alta costura y competencia feroz, Alberto y Ana tienen que luchar no solo por vivir juntos como lo desean desde hace tanto tiempo, sino también por la supervivencia misma de las Galerías Velvet, incluso si esto significa que Alberto termine en un matrimonio por conveniencia carente de amor. Mientras Alberto se rebela contra las expectativas que tienen de él, Ana sueña con ser diseñadora y lucha por dar a conocer su personalidad creativa. Además, ambos desafían los convencionalismos anticuados de una sociedad que se resiste a los cambios.
