Premios Juventud Made Univision the No. 1 and No. 2 Broadcast Network on Thursday Night Among Young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of July 11 to July 17, 2016
Hosted by William Levy, Alejandra Espinoza, Luis Coronel, Becky G, Erick Elias, Emeraude Toubia, and William Valdés, the 13th Annual Edition of “Premios Juventud,” which was simulcast live on Univision and Galavisión:
- Averaged 2.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.5 million Adults 18-49 and 739,000 young Adults 18-34.
- Positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network for the 8th consecutive year on “Premios Juventud” night among young Adults 18-34 while also beating closest competitor (CBS) by +29%.
- Made Univision the No. 2 broadcast network among Adults 18-49, outperforming ABC, NBC and FOX.
- Was the second and third most-watched program on all of broadcast television among young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, respectively.
- Out-performed the entire original line-up on FOX (“Bones” and “Home Free”) and first-run episodes of ABC’s “Greatest Hits” and NBC’s “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” and “Aquarius” with both young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.
For the week of July 11th, Univision:
- Ranked as the No. 4 broadcast network among young Adults 18-34, outperforming CBS.
- Week-to-week, grew its audience levels by +25% among Adults 18-49, +27% among young Adults 18-34 and by +19% among Total Viewers 2+.
- Out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on every night among young Adults 18-34.
Airing Mon-Wed, Fri 8pm, “Un Camino Hacia el Destino” (A Path to Destiny) averaged 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 741,000 Adults 18-49 and 380,000 young Adults 18-34.
Airing Mon-Wed, Fri 9pm, “Tres Veces Ana” (Three Times Ana) averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 796,000 Adults 18-49 and 384,000 young Adults 18-34.
Airing Mon-Wed, Fri 10pm, “Por Siempre Joan Sebastián” (Forever, Joan Sebastian) saw week-to-week growth among Adults 18-49 (+6% to 1.1 million) and young Adults 18-34 (+6% to 492,000). For the hour (excluding FOX’s 7/12 telecast of the MLB All Star game), Univision ranked as the No. 3 broadcast network among both young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, outperforming CBS in each demographic.
On Saturday, airing back-to-back Liga MX matches:
- Univision ranked as the No. 4 broadcast network among young Adults 18-34, outperforming CBS and NBC.
- Airing 7:55-9:57pm, Monterrey vs. Puebla averaged 710,000 Total Viewers 2+, 386,000 Adults 18-49 and 153,000 young Adults 18-34.
- Airing 9:57pm-12:01am, America vs. Jaguares averaged 967,000 Total Viewers 2+, 553,000 Adults 18-49 and 213,000 young Adults 18-34.
On Sunday, Univision ranked as the No. 3 broadcast network among young Adults 18-34, outperforming NBC and FOX:
- “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now), featuring an interview with Kate del Castillo, averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 611,000 Adults 18-49 and 291,000 young Adults 18-34. Also, viewership increased versus its prior four airings in the 7-8pm hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+27%), Adults 18-49 (+28%) and young Adults 18-34 (+55%).
- Next, airing 8-10:05pm, the season premiere of Va Por Ti (This One’s For You):
- Averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 768,000 Adults 18-49 and 344,000 young Adults 18-34.
- Positioned Univision as the No. 3 and No. 4 broadcast network, respectively, among young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, beating FOX during the two-hour premiere among both demographics.
- Consistently increased its audience throughout its entire two-hour broadcast with strong double-digit audience growth in the last half-hour compared to the first half-hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+33%), Adults 18-49 (+28%) and young Adults 18-34 (+23%).
- Finally, “Sal y Pimienta” (Salt and Pepper) averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 637,000 Adults 18-49 and 261,000 young Adults 18-34.
