KMEX 34 Los Angeles Honored with Two Edward R. Murrow Awards and Seven APTRA Awards; KDTV 14 San Francisco honored with an APTRA Award for Special Report: “Translatinas”
LOS ANGELES – APRIL 26, 2016 – Univision Stations KMEX 34 and KDTV 14, part of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading multimedia company serving Hispanic America, have been awarded in eight categories by The Associated Press Television and Radio Association’s 2015 APTRA Awards. Additionally, KMEX 34 has been presented with two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards by The Radio Television Digital News Association.
The Los Angeles-based KMEX 34 accepts APTRA honors for its live coverage in Spanish of the San Bernardino mass shooting and for the professionalism of its Live Breaking News assignment team. The Station also accepts the coveted Regional Edward R. Murrow – under the category, Large Market Television – for its 11 p.m. newscast special dedicated to the San Bernardino tragedy and for its Sports-related special “La Sirena de La Paz (The Mermaid of La Paz).”

The San Francisco-based KDTV 14 is awarded for its special reportage on the Hispanic transgender community, “Translatinas, Buscando Una Vida Mejor En San Francisco (Translatinas, Seeking A Better Life In San Francisco).” which was featured in Noticias 14 and also was recipient of a GLAAD Media Awards nomination for Outstanding Local TV Journalism in Spanish.

LOS ÁNGELES – 26 DE ABRIL DE 2016 – Las estaciones de Univision KMEX 34 y KDTV 14, parte de Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, han recibido premios APTRA de 2015 bajo ocho categorías de la Associated Press Television and Radio Association. También, la Radio Television Digital News Association le otorgó a KMEX 34 dos premios regionales Edward R. Murrow.
KMEX 34 de Los Ángeles está aceptando los galardones de APTRA por su cobertura en vivo y en español de la tragedia en San Bernardino y por el profesionalismo de su equipo de asignaciones con Noticias de Último Minuto en Vivo. El canal también acepta el codiciado premio regional Edward R. Murrow – bajo la categoría de Mercado Grande de Televisión – por su noticiero especial de las 11 p.m. que fue dedicado a la tragedia de San Bernardino, y por el especial deportivo “La sirena de La Paz”.
