MIAMI – MARCH 9, 2016 – Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the promotion of Daniel Coronell to president of News. He will continue to be based in Miami and report to Isaac Lee, Chief News and Digital Officer for UCI, and CEO of FUSION.
“Daniel is an exceptional editorial talent whose drive and instincts have elevated Univision’s newsroom to new levels of excellence,” said Lee. “He has been instrumental in driving innovation and the digital expansion of our news offering over the last five years. Coronell first joined the Univision News team in early 2011 as Vice President and News Director; in 2012 he was named Senior Vice President and Executive News Director, and in 2014 to his most recent position as Executive Vice President and Executive Director of News. Under his leadership, Univision News has been recognized with some of the most prestigious awards for excellence in journalism, including the duPont Award, the Peabody Award, the Walter Cronkite Award, the Gracie Award, the IRE Award and two King of Spain International Journalism Awards, among others. He is an internationally renowned investigative journalist with over 20 years of experience in broadcast and print media in his native Colombia. He previously served as director of “Noticias Uno,” a national newscast airing on Colombia’s Canal Uno television network, and also directed national newscasts for RCN TV. Additionally, he is a regular columnist for the Colombian news and current affairs magazine, Semana.
Throughout his career, Coronell has been honored with numerous awards, including Colombia’s prestigious Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar (Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award) on seven different occasions, the most recent of which was in 2013, when he won “Journalist of the Year.” In addition to his distinguished work in investigative journalism, he was a professor at Universidad Javeriana and Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá. Moreover, he has been a Senior Research Fellow at Stanford University and is a Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley.

DANIEL CORONELL ES ASCENDIDO A PRESIDENTE DE LA GALARDONADA DIVISIÓN DE NOTICIAS DE UNIVISION
MIAMI – 9 DE MARZO DE 2016 – Univision Noticias, la galardonada división de Noticias de Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, anunció hoy el ascenso de Daniel Coronell a Presidente de Noticias. Seguirá trabajando desde Miami, directamente con Isaac Lee, funcionario en jefe de Noticias y Medios Digitales de UCI, y director ejecutivo de FUSION.

Coronell se incorporó al equipo de Univision Noticias a comienzos de 2011 como vicepresidente y director de Noticias; en 2012 fue nombrado vicepresidente principal y director ejecutivo de Noticias, y en 2014, fue ascendido a su más reciente cargo de vicepresidente ejecutivo y director ejecutivo de Noticias. Bajo su liderazgo, Univision Noticias ha sido reconocido con algunos de los más prestigiosos premios a la excelencia periodística, entre ellos el premio duPont, Peabody, Walter Cronkite, Gracie, IRE y dos Premios Internacionales de Periodismo Rey de España. Es un periodista de investigación de renombre internacional, con más de 20 años de experiencia en medios impresos y de difusión en su país de origen, Colombia. Anteriormente se desempeñó como director de “Noticias Uno”, un noticiero a nivel nacional que se trasmite en la cadena de televisión Canal Uno de Colombia, y además dirigió noticieros nacionales en RCN TV. Asimismo, publica columnas periódicamente en Semana, revista colombiana de noticias y actualidad.
Durante su carrera, Coronell ha recibido numerosos galardones, entre ellos el prestigioso Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar de Colombia en siete ocasiones distintas, la más reciente en 2013, cuando fue seleccionado “Periodista del Año”. Además de su distinguida labor en el periodismo de investigación, fue profesor de la Universidad Javeriana y la Universidad Externado de Colombia en Bogotá. También ha sido investigador principal en Stanford University y profesor invitado de University of California, Berkeley.
