Lionel Messi, Chicharito Hernández, Saúl Canelo Alvarez, Tuca Ferreti and Carli Lloyd headline all-star list of nominees

MIAMI, FL – DECEMBER 1, 2015 – Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) that also includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network, today announced the contenders for the second annual Premios Univision Deportes (Univision Sports Awards). Nominees include top athletes and teams from the leagues and sports that U.S. Hispanics care about most.
As part of the lead-up to the awards program, Univision Deportes’ Edgar Martínez and Adriana Monsalve will host “Premios Univision Deportes: Las Nominaciones,” a special one-hour program with in-depth stories highlighting the nominees and their accomplishments. The special show will also feature a sneak peak of this year’s event, debates about the nominees by Univision Deportes experts, live polls for the fanaticos, and much more. “Premios Univision Deportes: Las Nominaciones” airs today Tuesday, December 1st at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT on UDN (Univision Deportes Network).
More than 60 athletes and teams have been nominated in 25 categories for their accomplishments on and off the field in sports ranging from soccer, basketball, baseball to boxing, auto racing and diving. Nominees include veteran Venezuelan first baseman Miguel Cabrera, Barça and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi, Mexican soccer ace Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and U.S. women’s national soccer team midfielder Carli Lloyd, who is in the running for both Female Athlete of the Year and Soccer Goal of the Year. Winners in the categories of Soccer Goal of the Year, Breakthrough of the Year and Extreme Sports Athlete of the Year will be chosen by fans, who may vote once a day per category at PremiosUnivisionDeportes.com through Wednesday, December 16th at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Los nominados incluyen a destacados atletas y equipos de las ligas y los deportes que más les interesan a los hispanos en los Estados Unidos.
