Univision Deportes Network Outperforms MLB Network, Fox Sports 2 and the Golf Channel in Total Day and Primetime with Adults 18-49 in February 2015

Delivers Double-Digit Viewership Growth with Liga MX Matches in Current Season with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

Total Year-Over-Year Twitter Activity Up by Triple Digits for Liga MX Telecasts


NEW YORK – MARCH 2, 2015 – Univision Deportes, the sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, in February aired the most-viewed club soccer matches on any network, regardless of language, and outperformed MLB Network, the Golf Channel and Fox Sports 2 in Total Day and Primetime with Adults 18-49 by double and triple-digits.

In February, Univision Deportes Network (UDN) outperformed MLB Network by 18% in Total Day and 75% in Primetime among Total Viewers; and by 60% in Total Day and 146% among Adults 18-49; Fox Sports 2 by 86% in Total Day and 210% in Primetime among Total Viewers; and by 167% in Total Day and 321% in Primetime among Adults 18-49; and the Golf Channel by 14% in Total Day and 79% in Primetime among Adults 18-49.

Univision Network broadcast the most-viewed club soccer telecast of February 2015 with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 across all networks – the Cruz Azul vs. Chivas match on February 21, 2015 delivered an average audience of 1.5 million Total Viewers and 832,000 Adults 18-49. The match delivered +13% more Total Viewers and +15% more Adults 18-49 than the top English Premier League (EPL) match on NBC (Manchester City-Chelsea on January 31, 2015).

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

Liga MX Futbol ranks as the most-viewed club soccer league in the United States among key demos, besting all other club soccer leagues on all other networks, regardless of language.

  • In February, in Total Day and Primetime among Adults 18-49, UDN out-delivered MLB Network, Fox Sports 2, and the Golf Channel, among others.
  • In the current season, Liga MX on Univision Network has outperformed EPL on NBC by +18% among Total Viewers and +25% with Adults 18-49.

Univision Network, UniMás, and UDN have all posted impressive growth with Liga MX Futbol coverage in the current season.

  • On Univision Network, viewership for Liga MX increased by +20% among Total Viewers and +21% with Adults 18-49 vs. prior year, boosted by strong performance of the America team, the most-viewed club soccer team in the U.S. across all networks regardless of language.
  • On UniMás, viewership for Liga MX increased by +48% among Total Viewers and +64% with Adults 18-49 vs. prior year, boosted by strong performance of the Chivas team.
  • On UDN:

o   Liga MX ratings increased +18% with Total Viewers and +13% with Adults 18-49 vs. year ago.
o   Liga MX is averaging 178,000 Adults 18-49 per match for season to-date, besting season to-date averages for both NBA on NBA TV and NHL on NBCSN, by +29% and +6%, respectively.
o   Aired the top three Spanish-language cable sports telecasts in February 2015 among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
o   Up +32% with Total Viewers and +37% with Adults 18-49 in Primetime vs. prior year.
o   Up +30% with Total Viewers and +33% with Adults 18-49 in Total Day vs. prior year.

DIGITAL HIGHLIGHTS

UnivisionDeportes.com and the Deportes App have both posted impressive growth with Liga MX Futbol coverage in the current season.

  • On UnivisionDeportes.com, average live streams per Liga MX match increased by +105% compared to the Clausura 2014 average.
  • On the Deportes App, average live streams per Liga MX match increased by +124% compared to the Clausura 2014 average.

In February, the UNAM vs. America match became the second most-streamed LigaMX game this season across UnivisionDeportes.com and the Deportes App, behind only the Leones Negros vs. Chivas match on January 25, 2015.

SOCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

Univision Deportes delivered solid growth in total Twitter activity during UDN telecasts year-over-year (February 2015 versus February 2014):

  • +76% increase in Unique Authors Tweeting during telecasts
  • +107% increase in Tweets during telecasts
  • +17% increase in average Tweets per Unique Author during telecasts

Univision Deportes posted growth in total Twitter activity during Liga MX telecasts year-over-year (February 2015 versus February 2014):

  • +133% increase in Unique Authors Tweeting during telecasts
  • +155% increase in Tweets during telecasts
  • +9% increase in average Tweets per Unique Author during telecasts
