In this special primetime edition of “Primer Impacto,” titled “Amor Prohibido” (Forbidden Love) after one of the singer’s most popular songs, Martínez reveals the details of his relationship with the famous singer for the first time ever.
After vehemently denying the rumors for almost two decades, Dr. Martínez now willingly opens up to anchors Barbara Bermudo and Pamela Silva Conde on “Primer Impacto.” Martínez admits to having been deeply in love with the Mexican-American singer/songwriter, who was married to her band’s lead guitarist, Chris Pérez, and explains why he refused to speak about this until now.
Selena was murdered by Yolanda Saldívar on March 31, 1995 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Shortly after she was convicted, Saldívar began spreading the rumors of Selena’s affair.
In another exclusive, “Primer Impacto” visits Saldívar, the former president of the Selena Fan Club, at the Mountain View Prison in Gatesville, Texas where she is serving a life sentence.
