Pierluigi Gazzolo is CEO of ViX at TelevisaUnivision, Inc., the world’s leading Spanish-language content and media company. In this role, Gazzolo focuses on ViX’s strategic growth and development into a new phase for the streaming operation, consolidating the organizational structure to approach the platform holistically.
Previously, Gazzolo joined TelevisaUnivision as the company’s President and Chief Transformation Officer to bring strategic guidance and dedicated leadership to oversee the Digital and Streaming business units, driving the company’s overall business transformation, organizational evolution, and market growth. Gazzolo and his team successfully launched the first global large-scale streaming services created specifically for the Spanish-speaking world, ViX (AVOD) and ViX+ (SVOD), creating a new revenue line for the company.
A seasoned media executive with extensive experience in global streaming strategy and content acquisitions, Gazzolo has served in senior leadership roles for over 20 years. During his previous role as President of Streaming and Studios for ViacomCBS Networks International, he was hand-selected by the CEO to lead Viacom’s transformation from a linear provider to a world-class digital-first media company. During his tenure at ViacomCBS, Gazzolo created the company’s first unified streaming division and led the positioning of Paramount+ and PlutoTV premium global content platforms. He also served as Chief Operating Officer for both MTV Networks International and Viacom International Media Networks. In his expanded role, he oversaw the performance of the global organization and its 5,000 employees, launched Viacom’s channels in 40 new markets and improved its digital media presence. Earlier in his career, he served as President of ViacomCBS Networks for Latin America and Canada, where he led a transformational shift for the company through strategic acquisitions and launched its fast-growing international studios to realign ViacomCBS’s digital and streaming goals.
Gazzolo has served as a member of the Board of Directors for joint ventures with Sky Media, Seoul Broadcasting System and Rainbow SRL. He has been recognized by numerous awards throughout his career, including the World Screen 2020 Premio Ícono TV Latina Award at NATPE, the 2016 Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Corporate Citizen of the Year Award and the 2011 Florida International University Alumni of the Year Award.
Gazzolo currently resides in Miami, Florida, and graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies.
