Jesus Lara is President of Local Media in the U.S. at TelevisaUnivsion, the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company. In this role, Lara leads the company’s local TV and radio operations and sales across the country, including in major markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago, and will continue overseeing the audio strategy for the Uforia audio network.
Previously to this role, he was President of Radio leading the audio network strategy and business development across 39 terrestrial stations and the Uforia digital platform, including the Uforia app, a music and podcasting streaming app, reaching over 22M listeners per week across platforms. Additionally, Lara also built the Uforia Music Series, the biggest Latin Music experiential footprint in America, featuring the hottest Latin superstars and up-and-coming artists.
Lara has been instrumental to extend the brand equity of Univision and Uforia into new areas, including the development of digital first properties such as Uforia Hangout Sessions, an intimate livestream series Latin music’s biggest stars and Uforia Live, virtual concerts that can be enjoyed by fans from the comfort of their homes, among others.
Lara joined TelevisaUnivision with more than 20 years of experience leading digital, programming, content, and marketing teams in the radio, music, and entertainment industries. He has worked with top media and content companies, including VIACOM, EMI, and other radio groups. Throughout his career, he has been known as a trailblazer in the execution of digital, programming, content, talent, and technology product strategies to reach Hispanic and international audiences.
Lara was named one of Billboard’s Power 100 in 2020 and 2022, featured numerous times in Radio Ink’s list of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio, listed as Billboard’s Latin Power Players for six consecutive years (2017 – 2022) and included in Billboard’s Digital Power Players list in 2019.
Lara currently resides in Miami, Florida, and graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business. He also holds an MBA in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, and an MSc in Digital Marketing from I.E. Business School in Madrid, Spain.
