‘Tis the Season for Hispanic Moviegoing

By Diana Rasbot, Director - Strategy and Insights

‘Tis the season for movie watching. With the holiday season in full swing, consumers have another reason to celebrate and Hispanics are no exception. A big way to celebrate is by gathering the family and heading to the movies.

In fact, in 2014, Hispanics accounted for 20% ($110M) of holiday opening weekend box office receipts. Action adventure and family titles were the two biggest genres with Hispanics in the 2014 holiday season (accounting for 43% and 24% of the opening weekend box office share respectively.) This year, with the release of highly anticipated blockbusters like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and family friendly titles like Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, there won’t be a shortage of options to choose from at the theatre.

We can expect Hispanic Holiday attendance to be in full force, closing out what has been a stellar year for Hispanic movie going.
