ViX to Premiere Thriller Series EL DENTISTA on September 19
Co-produced with Movistar Plus+ and starring Demián Bichir, Camila Sodi, and Alberto Ammann, the eight-episode series will stream exclusively on ViX in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
MIAMI – September 11, 2025 – ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, today announced that its new thriller series EL DENTISTA, a co-production with Movistar Plus+, will premiere its eight episodes on September 19. The series will be available exclusively on ViX with premium plan in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Starring Academy Award nominee Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight, A Better Life, The Nun), Camila Sodi (Cualquier parecido, Enfermo amor, Luis Miguel: The Series), and Alberto Ammann (Narcos, Upon Entry, Presencias), the series is inspired by Julio Rojas’s novel El visitante extranjero and was filmed in Mexico.
Produced by Fabula, the company founded by Academy Award winners Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín, EL DENTISTA follows Nolasco Black, a forensic dentist investigating the brutal murder of a prostitute. As he digs deeper into the case, he relives a personal tragedy and uncovers evidence that Jack the Ripper has arrived in America. With the support of the secret society Flammarion and Sofía, a brilliant chemist who becomes both his ally and love interest, Nolasco embarks on a dangerous hunt to stop the killer before more victims fall.
The cast also features Dagoberto Gama, Ianis Guerrero, Claudia Ramírez, Carlos Aragón, Lisa Owen, and Natasha Dupeyrón. The series is directed by Israel Adrián Caetano and Hari Sama—who also serves as executive producer and writer—and counts Demián Bichir, Ángela Poblete, and Mariano Carranco as executive producers.
The project received support from the government of Colombia through the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive, administered by Proimágenes Colombia, which granted a 35% tax rebate on audiovisual services.
