MIAMI – September 24, 2026 – “La Huella del Crimen,” the Spanish adaptation of TelevisaUnivision’s format “C.D.I.: Código de Investigación,” premiered on Telemadrid with a 5.2% audience share, compared to the 4.8% average registered by the channel during the prime-time slot. The show also hit a peak of 7.8% and showed upward growth throughout its broadcast, rising from a 4.2% share at the start to 6.5% by the end.
Produced by Mediacrest for RTVM, “La Huella del Crimen” reconstructs eight high-profile cases from Spain’s true-crime history through the lens of investigation, combining testimonials, archival documentation, expert analysis, and immersive recreations created using artificial intelligence.
“’La Huella del Crimen” is a format with extraordinary narrative power, and at Mediacrest, we saw from the very beginning that it had everything needed to connect with the Spanish audience. Adapting it for Telemadrid alongside TelevisaUnivision allowed us to give it its own distinct identity, while also incorporating an innovative use of artificial intelligence in the reenactments, always in service of rigor and respect for the victims,” notes Cristian Liarte, CEO of Mediacrest.
Guillermo Borensztein, SVP of Content Licensing at TelevisaUnivision, highlighted the strategy behind the launch: “At MIPCOM 2025, we presented “Código de Investigación” and validated its potential to travel. It is a clear example of how we want to grow our IP: test the formula in our primary markets and then scale it internationally. After proving its ability to connect in Mexico and the United States, it is now Spain’s turn, together with Mediacrest and Telemadrid. And very soon, we will announce new adaptations across Europe.”
Hosted by journalist Alfonso Egea, the show is the Spanish adaptation of “C.D.I.: Código de Investigación,” a TelevisaUnivision-owned format that continues to expand its international presence following its successful track record in Mexico and the United States.
With this new adaptation, TelevisaUnivision continues to drive the international expansion of “C.D.I.: Código de Investigación” and add new territories, in addition to broadcasts of the original version in Uruguay, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Canada.
