Across five episodes, the former world champion revisits the chapters that built his legacy: his beginnings, the climb to the top, the great victories that made him one of Mexico’s greatest sports idols, and the decisions, excesses and personal battles that put the man behind the champion to the test.
The series takes Julio César Chávez to some of the most significant places in his story, from Culiacán and Tijuana, where his career began, to iconic venues such as the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and Estadio Azteca. It also follows him to spaces tied to a more intimate chapter of his life, including a rehabilitation center in Tijuana and the Centro Ceremonial Otomí, where he reflects on the road he has traveled.
Beyond the belts, the knockouts and the nights of glory, “Chávez vs. Chávez” captures the hardest fight of Julio César Chávez’s life: the one he fought against himself. The series reveals a little-known side of one of the biggest icons in Mexican sports. Built from four intimate conversations with the champion and told in his own words, it traces the moments that defined his story through memories, reflections and revelations shared with a rare level of honesty.
The series also explores the price of fame, the pressure of becoming an idol and the consequences of the decisions that shaped his life. Caught between the legend admired by millions and the man trying to survive his own image, “Chávez vs. Chávez” reveals a deeply human battle between vulnerability, redemption and the search for truth.
