Univision Noticias Digital Receives Online News Association Award
The digital division of Univision Noticias was also a finalist in two other categories of the prestigious awards.
MIAMI – SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 – Today, TelevisaUnivision is pleased to announce that Univision Noticias Digital received an Online News Association (ONA) Award in the Topical Reporting: Pandemic Coverage category.
The winning story, Rising Up in the Heartland: Latino Workers Fight for Pandemic Relief, covered Escucha Mi Voz (Hear My Voice), a rural movement of Latino workers who fought for their right to receive benefits like unemployment and stimulus checks in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The same piece ranked as a finalist in the Excellence in Social Justice Reporting category.
The story Surfside: Persistent Trauma and Few Lessons Learned was also a finalist in the Feature, Medium Newsroom category. The piece covers the tragic collapse of Champlain Towers South and the consequences for survivors, relatives of the victims and neighbors.

La historia galardonada, “Rising Up in the Heartland: Latino Workers Fight for Pandemic Relief” (Elevándose en el centro de los Estados Unidos: Trabajadores latinos luchan por ayuda económica durante la pandemia) se centra en “Escucha Mi Voz”, un movimiento rural de trabajadores latinos que aboga por el derecho a recibir beneficios gubernamentales como cheques de desempleo o de estímulo durante la pandemia del COVID-19.
