Kids Talent Competition Series, “Pequeños Gigantes” Delivers Consecutive Hourly Audience Growth on Sunday Night Across All Key Demos
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of May 6, 2019 to May 12, 2019
- With its live coverage of the Liga MX matchup between Tigres UANL and Pachuca, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking, ahead of ABC, CBS, FOX and Telemundo on Saturday night among Adults 18-34. Tigres UANL vs. Pachuca attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+8% to 928,000), Adults 18-49 (+11% to 460,000) and Adults 18-34 (+12% to 176,000) than the prior Saturday’s soccer match of Leon vs. Tigres UANL as well as increased the network’s audience levels in the 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year among Total Viewers 2+ (+8%), Adults 18-49 (+36%) and Adults 18-34 (+39%). Tigres UANL and Pachuca also ranked as the second and sixth highest-rated program on broadcast television with Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, respectively and made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo for the fifth consecutive Saturday night among Adults 18-34 and for the seventh consecutive Saturday night among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+.
- Univision finished ahead of The CW in primetime for the 33rd consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season with 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 483,000 Adults 18-49 and 185,000 Adults 18-34.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on four out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
- Univision’s weeknight series, “Jesus” (176,000), “Rosa De Guadalupe” (199,000) and “Por Amar Sin Ley” (197,000) averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “For The People,” “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” “The Fix,” “The Kids Are Alright” and “Whiskey Cavalier;” CBS’ “Ransom,” “Seal Team,” “The Code” and “The Red Line;” NBC’s “Abbys” and “The Good Girls;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” as well as The CW’s “Arrow,” “Charmed,” DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Dynasty,” “In The Dark,” “IZombie,” “Riverdale,” “Supergirl” and “The Hundred.”
- More than 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+ tuned-in to the Liga MX matchup between America and Cruz Azul on the Univision network on Thursday night. America vs. Cruz Azul finished among the top-rated programs on broadcast television with more Adult 18-49 (835,000) Adult 18-34 (302,000) viewers than the entire original line-up on The CW (“IZombie” and “In The Dark”), the two-hour premiere of FOX’s “Paradise Hotel” and first-run episodes of NBC’s “Abbys” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
- Sunday night’s three-hour airing of “Pequeños Gigantes” delivered 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 463,000 Adults 18-49 and 162,000 Adults 18-34. The kids talent competition series consistently increased its audience throughout the three-hour broadcast with double-digit audience growth in the last hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+40%), Adults 18-49 (+40%) and Adults 18-34 (+32%). “Pequeños Gigantes” also outperformed The CW’s entire original primetime programming lineup consisting of “Supergirl” and “Charmed” for the fourth consecutive Sunday with both the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics.
