Univision Delivers Week-Over-Week Audience Growth During Weeknight Primetime, Propels Network to Top Five Broadcast Finish for Second Straight Week Across Key Demos
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of April 1, 2019 to April 7, 2019
- For the second consecutive Saturday night, Univision outperformed ABC, NBC and FOX for the entire night among Adults 18-34 and finished ahead of ABC and FOX among Adults 18-49. Airing from 8:55 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the Liga MX matchup of Tigres UANL vs. Unam drew in 977,000 Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the third and fifth most-watched program on broadcast television among Adults 18-34 (225,000) and Adults 18-49 (501,000), respectively. The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the second consecutive Saturday night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+16% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+19% adv.).
- Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network in primetime, ahead of The CW for the second consecutive week with 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+ and 541,000 Adults 18-49. This also marked the 28th consecutive week since the start of the 2018/2019 season that Univision has outperformed The CW during primetime among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime, out-delivering Telemundo for the 2nd consecutive week among Adults 18-49 (+5% adv.) and for the 23rd consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+23% adv.).
- From Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience week-over-week for the second consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+4% to 1.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+4% to 566,000), making it the No. 1 Spanish-language network during weeknight primetime, ahead of Telemundo.
- At 8 p.m., “Jesus” delivered week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 554,000) and Adults 18-34 (+2% to 203,000). The epic series also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television, outperforming Telemundo for the 14th consecutive week among Adults 18-49 (+3% adv.) and for the 23rd consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+23% adv.).
- At 9 p.m., “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+6% to 1.6 million), Adults 18-49 (+6% to 625,000) and Adults 18-34 (+8% to 242,000) than the prior week. The dramedy also attracted more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “For the People,” “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Schooled,” “Single Parents,” “Speechless,” “The Fix” and “Whiskey Cavalier;” CBS’ “Bull,” “Fam,” “Macgyver,” “Magnum P.I.,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “The Seal Team;” NBC’s “A.P. Bio,” “Abby’s,” “Blacklist,” “Blindspot,” “Good Girls,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Will & Grace” and “World of Dance;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” and “The Cool Kids;” as well as The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “In The Dark,” “Jane The Virgin” and “Supernatural.”
- At 10 p.m., “Por Amar Sin Ley” achieved its highest weekly audience levels in its current second season with 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+ and 520,000 Adults 18-49. It also outperformed first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as FOX’s “Proven Innocent” and The CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “In The Dark,” “Jane The Virgin” and “Supernatural” among Adults 18-49.
- Sunday night’s broadcast of “Pequeños Gigantes” attracted 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 615,000 Adults 18-49 and 254,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo in the 8pm to 10pm time period (+21% adv.) as well as for the entire night (+14% adv.) with the key 18 to 49 demographic for the third consecutive week. The kids talent competition series also finished within the top 10 programs on broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of NBC’s “World of Dance” and “Good Girls.”
