A New Era of Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” Begins with First Announcement of A-list Artists and Top Nominees Scheduled to Perform
Marc Anthony, Thalia, Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, Reik, and Christian Nodal among the performers vying for awards in established and newly expanded categories
The 31st edition will air on Univision on Thursday, February 21, live from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami starting at 7 p.m. ET
MIAMI – JANUARY 23, 2019— This year, Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” enters a new era ushered in by one of its most impressive roster of artists and nominees ever, with scheduled performances by Marc Anthony, Thalia, Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, Reik, and Christian Nodal. These artists are the first to be confirmed for the 31st edition of the longest-running music awards show on Spanish-language television in the United States and Puerto Rico, to air at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 21, live on Univision from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
- Marc Anthony, The King of Salsa returns to “Premio Lo Nuestro’s” stage for the world premiere of his first salsa single in over five years, from his soon-to-be released album later this year. He is nominated in two categories.
- Thalia, recipient of seven “Premio Lo Nuestro” awards in the past, returns with two nominations and a powerful all female performance.
- Daddy Yankee, with five nominations and a special recognition. The chart-topping, record-holding Puerto Rican reggaetón artist will offer a special tribute performance to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the release of “Barrio Fino.”
- Natti Natasha, with 15 The Dominican urban, pop, trap and tropical music star will take the stage as the most nominated artist this year.
- Reik, with six nominations. The Mexican band will demonstrate why its song “Me Niego” has taken them beyond their musical comfort zone and proved to be a collaboration hit.
- Christian Nodal, first time nominee, with two nods. The Mexican singer-songwriter has broken mariachi music barriers and brought generations together. This will be his first performance in “Premio Lo Nuestro.”
The 2019 production has once again partnered with the award winning and critically acclaimed producer, musician and composer, Sergio George, as musical director for the telecast.
With winners chosen by popular vote, “Premio Lo Nuestro” recognizes the best in music and showcases musical performances with worldwide premieres and current hits that will be toping the charts this year.
This 31st edition will feature newer music and will include seven new categories representing today’s ever-expanding musical tastes. The new categories are Sierreño Artist of the Year, ‘Replay’ Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Crossover Collaboration of the Year, Remix of the Year, Social Artist of the Year, and Tour of the Year.
Fans voted from January 8th through January 21 for their favorites among 91 artists in 28 award categories. Nominations were based on the top 1,000 current and recurrent songs in Spanish and English with the most plays on Univision’s Uforia radio stations from January 1st to October 31st of 2018.

MIAMI —23 DE ENERO DE 2019— Este año, “Premio Lo Nuestro” de Univision inicia una nueva era con uno de los más impresionantes grupos de artistas y nominados de su historia, con actuaciones programadas por Marc Anthony, Thalía, Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, Reik y Christian Nodal. Estos son los primeros artistas confirmados para la 31a edición del programa de premios musicales de más larga trayectoria en la televisión en español en Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico, que se transmitirá en vivo a las 7 p.m. Este el jueves, 21 de febrero, desde AmericanAirlines Arena en Miami.
- Marc Anthony: El Rey de la Salsa regresa al escenario de “Premio Lo Nuestro” para el estreno mundial de su primer sencillo de salsa en más de cinco años, del álbum que lanzará pronto este año. Ha sido nominado en dos categorías.
- Thalía, galardonada con siete “Premio Lo Nuestro” en el pasado, regresa con dos nominaciones y una impactante presentación de artistas mujeres.
- Daddy Yankee, con cinco nominaciones y un reconocimiento especial. El popular intérprete puertorriqueño de reggaetón, que ha batido varios récords, ofrecerá un homenaje especial para conmemorar el 15to aniversario del lanzamiento de “Barrio Fino”.
- Natti Natasha, con 15 nominaciones. La estrella dominicana de música urbana, pop, trap y tropical se presentará como la artista con más nominaciones este año.
- Reik, con seis nominaciones. El grupo mexicano demostrará por qué su canción “Me Niego” lo ha hecho ir más allá de su zona de confort musical y ha resultado ser un éxito de colaboración.
- Christian Nodal, nominado por primera vez, recibió dos nominaciones. El cantautor mexicano ha derrumbado barreras de la música mariachi y unido generaciones. Esta será su primera presentación en “Premio Lo Nuestro”.
La producción de 2019 se ha vuelto a asociar con el galardonado y aclamado productor, músico y compositor Sergio George, quien será el director musical de la transmisión.
Con la selección de ganadores por voto popular, “Premio Lo Nuestro” es un reconocimiento de lo mejor de la música y presenta actos con estrenos mundiales y los éxitos del momento que encabezarán las listas de popularidad del año.
Esta 31a edición incluirá nueva música y siete categorías nuevas que representan la constante expansión del gusto en música. Las nuevas categorías son Artista Sierreño del Año, Canción “Replay” del Año, Sencillo del Año, Colaboración “Crossover” del Año, Remix del Año, Artista Social del Año y Gira del Año.
Los fans votaron del 8 al 21 de enero por sus favoritos entre 91 artistas en 28 categorías. Las nominaciones se basan en las 1,000 canciones actuales y recurrentes en español e inglés que más se tocaron en las estaciones de radio de Uforia de Univision del 1 de enero al 31 de octubre de 2018.
