Univision Delivers Double-Digit Week-To-Week Audience Growth During Weeknight Primetime Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of October 8, 2018 to October 14, 2018
- Univision increased its weeknight primetime audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+14% to 618,000) and Adults 18-34 (+24% to 263,000).
- “El Rico y Lázaro” attracted 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 702,000 Adults 18-49 and 272,000 Adults 18-34 during its finale on Wednesday night and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the 8pm hour with audience advantages over Telemundo of +5% among Adults 18-49 and +26% among Total Viewers 2+. The epic series also out-delivered the entire primetime line-up on The CW (“Riverdale” and “All American”) and Telemundo (“Exatlon,” “Falsa Identidad” and “El Recluso”) with the key 18 to 49 demographic.
- “Mi Familia Tiene Más Familia” delivered 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-to-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+6% to 570,000) and Adults 18-34 (+17% to 244,000). The dramedy also drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Fresh Off The Boat” and “Speechless;” CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Bull,” “Hawaii Five-0” and “Madam Secretary;” NBC’s “Blindspot” and “I Feel Bad” as well as CW’s “All American,” “Black Lightning,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Dynasty,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural.”
- “La Piloto II” averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+2% to 1.1 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 473,000) and Adults 18-34 (+13% to 207,000) than the previous week.
- For the seventh consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime, outperforming Telemundo by +6% among Total Viewers 2+.
- Univision finished ahead of The CW during primetime for the entire week with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 551,000 Adults 18-49 and 229,000 Adults 18-34.
- Thursday night’s special live soccer coverage drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+11% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+21% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+20% adv.). Preceded by USA vs. Colombia which drew in 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 598,000 Adults 18-49 and 253,000 Adults 18-34, the matchup between Mexico and Costa Rica retained and increased its lead-in audience by +43% with 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, +62% with 967,000 Adults 18-49 and +66% with 418,000 Adults 18-34. Mexico vs. Costa Rica also ranked within the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television on Thursday night with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-up on NBC (“Superstore,” “The Good Place,” “Will & Grace,” “I Feel Bad” and “Law and Order: SVU”) and first-run episodes of CBS’ “Murphy Brown” and “S.W.A.T” as well as CW’s “Supernatural.”
- Univision’s one-hour special premiere of “Like, La Leyenda” on Sunday night at 7pm attracted 655,000 Total Viewers 2+, 286,000 Adults 18-49 and 118,000 Adults 18-34. The music-themed teen drama increased its audience in the second half-hour compared to the first-half hour among Adults 18-49 (+5%) and Adults 18-34 (+6%).
- The fourth episode of the eleventh installment of Univision’s “Nuestra Belleza Latina” averaged 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 544,000 Adults 18-49 and 191,000 Adults 18-34. It also delivered audience growth of +12% from the first hour to the last hour among both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+.
- For the second consecutive Sunday, Univision’s “Crónicas” outperformed Telemundo’s “Don Francisco Te Invita” in the 10pm hour with audience advantages of +28% among Total Viewers 2+ (1.2 million) and +25% among Adults 18-49 (485,000). With week-to-week audience gains of +9%, the news program also averaged more Adult 18-49 viewers (+9% adv.) than ABC’s premiere of “The Alec Baldwin Show” head-to-head during the 10pm to 11pm time slot.
