WHAT: Univision Network announces the premiere of the epic series “El Rico y Lázaro” a compelling story of romance and intrigue set in Babylonian palaces on January 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7:00 p.m. CT) and thereafter Monday through Friday in the same timeslot.
Inspired by the biblical parable of “Lazarus and the Rich Man,” “El Rico y Lázaro” unfolds in two mayor storylines. The first unfolds when the Egyptians held tribes from the ancient Kingdom of Judah captive in Babylonia. After defeating the Egyptians, The King of Babylon, Nabucodonosor II (Heitor Martinez), takes the throne of the vast empire. During his reign, he transformed the city into a jewel of the ancient world, building the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon for his wife, Queen Amytis (Adriana Garambone).
The second story follows the lives of three childhood friends: Asher (Dudu Azevedo), Zac (Igor Rickli), and Joana, played by Brazilian actress Milena Toscano. Born Hebrews, Zac and Asher’s great friendship is shaken by the love they both feel for their childhood friend, the beautiful Joana. King Nabucodonosor II invades Jerusalem, destroys Solomon’s Temple and enslaves thousands of Hebrews, initiating the Babylonian Captivity, lasting seventy years. Zac and Asher are among the captives and see their world being destroyed. Plagued by separations, setbacks and disagreements, their lives will be marked by jealousy, guilt, revenge, sacrifices and, above all, an intense competition for Joana’s love.

QUÉ: La Cadena Univision anuncia el estreno de la serie épica “El Rico y Lázaro”, un cautivador relato histórico de romance e intriga ambientado en los palacios de Babilonia, el 15 de enero a las 8pm Este/Pacífico (7:00pm Centro), y posteriormente, de lunes a viernes en el mismo horario. La serie, inspirada en la parábola de la Biblia de “Lázaro y el rico” cuenta con dos tramas importantes. La primera se produce cuando los egipcios mantenían en cautiverio a tribus del antiguo reino de Judá en Babilonia. Tras vencer a los egipcios, el rey de Babilonia, Nabucodonosor II (Heitor Martinez), asume el mando del enorme imperio. Durante su reinado, transformó la ciudad en una joya de la Antigüedad, donde construyó los legendarios Jardines Colgantes de Babilonia para su esposa, la reina Amitis (Adriana Garambone). La segunda historia es sobre la vida de tres amigos de la infancia: Ageo (Dudu Azevedo), Zacarías (Igor Rickli) y Joana, interpretada por la actriz brasileña Milena Toscano. La gran amistad de Zacarías y Ageo, hebreos de nacimiento, se ve amenazada por el amor que ambos sienten por su amiga de la infancia, la bella Joana. El rey Nabucodonosor II invade Jerusalén, destruye el Templo de Salomón y toma a los hebreos como esclavos, iniciando así el Cautiverio en Babilonia, que duró 70 años. Zacarías y Ageo están entre los cautivos y presencian la destrucción de su ciudad. En su vida, plagada de separaciones, reveses y desacuerdos, también abundan los celos, la culpa, la venganza, los sacrificios y, más que nada, una competencia intensa por el amor de Joana.
