Top Latino chefs will cook together for the first time starting Friday, October 20th at 10 a.m. ET/PT (9 a.m. CT)
WHAT: The Univision Network announces the premiere of “Cocineros Latinos” (Latino Cooks), a full-hour cooking segment presented by “Despierta América” with world-renowned chefs Lorena García, Miguel Rebolledo and Gustavo Chávez. “Cocineros Latinos” will air Fridays at 10 a.m. ET/PT (9 a.m. CT) starting October 20th.
“Cocineros Latinos” is the newest installment in a series of specialized segments introduced within “Despierta América” this year, including “Sin Rollos,” a panel discussion on the topics of the day and “Dr. Juan,” health and wellness advice from cardiologist Dr. Juan Rivera. “Despierta América,” on the air for 20 years, is the number-one Spanish-language morning show in the U.S.
“Cocineros Latinos” brings three passionate celebrity chefs together for the first time to share their finest and easy-to-make recipes. Food enthusiasts will learn how to make and enjoy a variety of dishes from Latin America and Spain’s rich culinary traditions.
Chef Lorena Garcia is a cookbook author, cookware designer and restaurateur who brings to the table her passion for the food of her native Venezuela, combined with the international flavors and culinary techniques she mastered as a young chef working in some of the world’s finest restaurants.
Gustavo Chávez (El Chile Mayor) delights audiences with the dishes of his hometown, Michoacán, Mexico, where as a child he watched his parents prepare delicious meals for his 10 siblings. El Chile Mayor will give fans a taste of the varied and subtle ingredients that define the cuisine of Mexico.
Master chef Miguel Rebolledo brings his extensive culinary experience, talents and endless love for Spanish cuisine to the table. Rebolledo perfected his techniques at one of Spain’s most famous restaurants, El Bulli, under Chef Ferran Adrià, where he cooked for some of the world’s most famous clientele, including royalty.
From Mexican tacos to Venezuelan asado negro (dark beef roast) to Spanish tortilla, these three culinary legends will prepare their favorite homemade dishes together in less than an hour, leaving food-loving audiences hungry for more.

“Cocineros” es el más reciente en una serie de segmentos especializados que se han estrenado en “Despierta América” este año, entre ellos “Sin Rollos”, un panel sobre temas de actualidad, y “Dr. Juan”, consejos sobre salud y bienestar del cardiólogo Juan Rivera. “Despierta América”, que se trasmite desde hace 20 años, es el más popular programa matutino en español de Estados Unidos
“Cocineros Latinos” congrega a tres chefs célebres y muy dedicados por primera vez para que compartan sus mejores recetas y las más fáciles. Los aficionados a la cocina aprenderán a preparar una variedad de platillos de la rica tradición culinaria de Latinoamérica y España.
Lorena García, chef, autora de libros de cocina, diseñadora de utensilios de cocina y propietaria de restaurantes, lleva a la mesa su pasión por la comida de su país de origen, Venezuela, combinada con sabores internacionales y técnicas culinarias que domina desde muy joven como chef en algunos de los mejores restaurantes del mundo.
Gustavo Chávez (El Chile Mayor) deleita a la audiencia con los platillos de su ciudad, Michoacán, México, donde de niño observaba a sus padres preparar comida deliciosa para sus 10 hermanos. El Chile Mayor les presentará a los fans una variedad de los ingredientes sutiles que caracterizan a la cocina mexicana.
El master chef Miguel Rebolledo aporta su extensa experiencia culinaria, talento y gran amor por la cocina española.
