Elvis Crespo, Joss Favela, Karol G, Larry Hernández, Lupillo Rivera, and Gente de Zona among performers set to take the stage

MIAMI, FL – DECEMBER 8, 2016 – Premios Univision Deportes, the premiere sports award show for U.S. Hispanics, will toast the year’s top achievements in sports in true red carpet style. Some of the biggest names in Latin music will be joined by elite athletes and beloved Univision talent for an evening like no other to commemorate the most unforgettable moments of the year on and off the playing field. The award show will be hosted by telenovela heartthrob Julián Gil and veteran Liga MX coach Miguel “Piojo” Herrera. Sal y Pimienta’s Karina Banda will keep fans engaged by sharing all of the backstage action live on social media during the two-hour telecast. Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) that also includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network, has announced the list of entertainers set to appear on the show, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, December 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT (7:00 p.m. Central) on Univision Network and UDN.
Hit merengue singer and Latin GRAMMY winner Elvis Crespo will be performing “Bailar,” Latin Grammy honoree and banda star Lupillo Rivera will bring his single “El Malo” to the celebration and Mexican crooner Joss Favela will also light up the stage with his single “No Vuelvas a Llamar.” Karol G will bring the urban and pop styling that earned the young Colombian a Premios Juventud nomination this year, with a medley of her hits “Hello” and “Casi Nada,” along with fellow reggaetón artists and Premios Juventud honorees Gente de Zona and multiple-award-winning Mexican regional superstar Larry Hernández. Cuban singer Lena will perform a tribute to the late José Fernández. The uniquely talented painter and performance artist David Garibaldi, who has made a name for himself by painting portraits of subjects ranging from athletes to rock musicians to religious figures in record time on stage, will be delighting the audience in a can’t-miss moment during the gala.
“Tres Veces Ana” costars Angelique Boyer and Sebastián Rulli and “Despertar Contigo” star Ela Velden will be joining the festivities, along with former Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera, and Nuestra Belleza Latina Queens Clarissa Molina (2016) and Nastassja Bolívar (2011). Heartthrob actor Danilo Carrera will also be in attendance.
Elite athletes from a wide range of sports, including many who will receive accolades, are joining the celebration. NFL’s Anthony Muñoz, will be joined by Honduran national soccer team midfielder Luis Garrido who will be on hand to receive the Muhammad Ali Sports Fighter of the Year award. Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto will be honored with the humanitarian award for his work against childhood obesity. Boxers and award nominees Óscar Valdez and Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez will be joining the star-studded gala, as well as Aroldis Chapman, whose World Series champion team Chicago Cubs are in the running for Team of the Year. Also attending will be Deyna Castellanos, who is nominated in the Female Athlete of the Year category in addition to being part of the Venezuela U17 women’s team, which is up for the Breakthrough of the Year. Also from the world of soccer, Team USA veterans Alejandro Bedoya and Jozy Altidore will be on hand as special guests, as will Mexican soccer legend Pável Pardo, and World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán.

Los boxeadores y candidatos a premios Óscar Valdez y Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez acudirán a la estelar gala, como también Aroldis Chapman, cuyo equipo ganador de la Serie Mundial, los Chicago Cubs, es candidato a Equipo del Año. También estará presente Deyna Castellanos, una de las nominadas bajo la categoría Atleta Femenina del Año e integrante del equipo Sub-17 de Venezuela, quien compite por el premio a la Revelación del Año.
