Highly Anticipated Match Performed Better Than All English Premier League Matches in NBC’s History


NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 8, 2016 – Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. which includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports cable network, today announced that its live coverage of the World Cup Qualifying match featuring Mexico versus Honduras reached 3.0 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.8 million Adults 18-49, airing on Univision Network with simulcast on UDN at 10:00 pm on Tuesday night. Viewership was by far the best for any World Cup Qualifier on any network, regardless of language, since 2014 amongst all demographics.

Locally, coverage of the Mexico vs. Honduras match made Univision the No. 1 broadcast station during the time period (10:00 p.m.-12:15 a.m. ET, live across time zones) among:

  • Total Viewers 2+ in Los Angeles and Houston
  • Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Phoenix

The Mexico vs. Honduras match was the No. 1 program of the day among:

  • Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas
  • Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix

Coverage of the Mexico vs. Honduras match on Univision had higher viewership than the ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX stations combined in the time period among:

  • Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles and Houston
  • Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix
