NEW YORK – JULY 13, 2016 – Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc., (UCI) that includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language cable sports network, today announced strong results for the Fin de Semana de Campeones (Weekend of Champions) telecasts. The programming includes the inaugural airing of “Balón de Oro de la Liga Bancomer MX” soccer awards show on Saturday, the SúperCopa MX match that aired Sunday and the Liga MX Campeón de Campeones match that aired Sunday, all live from Los Angeles.
The inaugural “Balón De Oro de la Liga Bancomer MX” awards show celebrated the best in Mexican soccer and aired live on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The telecast delivered 829,000 Total Viewers 2+ and 410,000 Adults 18-49, besting all of the FIFA “Ballon d’Or” telecasts in the United States across all networks, regardless of language. On Sunday, the SúperCopa MX match between Chivas and Veracruz aired at 5:30 p.m. ET and averaged 871,000 Total Viewers 2+ and 421,000 Adults 18-49. Viewership grew by more than double versus the 2015 SúperCopa MX between Monarcas and Puebla among both Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49.
Also on Sunday, the Campeón de Campeones match between Tigres and Pachuca aired at 8:37 p.m. ET and averaged 868,000 Total Viewers 2+ and 440,000 Adults 18-49. This match was the most-viewed soccer match of the week on Univision Deportes among Adults 18-49.
