WHAT: Univision Network announces the world premiere of “Por Siempre…Joan Sebastian, El Poeta del Pueblo” (Forever…Joan Sebastian, the People’s Poet), its first ever primetime mini-series based on the life of the acclaimed music legend which is set to premiere on Monday, June 27th at 10 p.m. ET/PT (9 p.m. CT) on the Univision Network.
This mini-series follows the life and career of legendary Mexican singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian honoring his accomplishments just a year after his untimely death. His love of life will be shared along with his passion for his music and his fans. This story will pay tribute to the “people’s poet,” as he is affectionately known, giving audience a unique look at the life of the singer as a child, his many struggles growing up, and his meteoric rise to fame. Jose Manuel and Julian Figueroa, Joan Sebastian’s sons, will play Joan at different stages of his life. Livia Brito will play the role of Maribel Guardia, one of Joan’s true loves.
A touching story of a poet who never surrendered in the face of adversity, the mini-series takes us back to the 1950s to the small Mexican town of Juliantla, where Joan Sebastian was born and, ultimately, died last year. The story features Sebastian as a young man migrating to Chicago to pursue his dream, the women who inspired him, and how he launched a successful recording career that would make him one of the top-selling GRAMMY Award-winning artists whose songs will live forever.

QUÉ: La Cadena Univision anuncia el estreno mundial de “Por siempre…Joan Sebastian, el Poeta del Pueblo”, por primera vez una miniserie en horario estelar relata la vida de la aclamada leyenda musical, cuyo estreno está programado para el lunes, 27 de junio a las 10 p.m. Este/Pacífico (9 p.m. CT) en la Cadena Univision.
Esta miniserie trata sobre la vida y carrera del legendario cantautor mexicano Joan Sebastian y reconoce sus logros, apenas un año después de su súbita muerte. En ella se presentará su amor por la vida, como también su pasión por la música y sus fans. Una historia que rendirá homenaje al “poeta del pueblo”, como se le conocía cariñosamente, y le dará a la audiencia un vistazo singular de la vida del cantante de niño, los muchos desafíos de su infancia y su ascenso meteórico a la fama. José Manuel y Julián Figueroa, los hijos de Joan Sebastian, desempeñarán el papel de Joan en diferentes etapas de su vida. Livia Brito hará el papel de Maribel Guardia, uno de los grandes amores en la vida de Joan.
Esta miniseries es una conmovedora historia del poeta que nunca se rindió ante la adversidad, transportándonos a la década de 1950 en el pueblito de Juliantla, México, donde Joan Sebastian nació y, posteriormente, murió el año pasado. El relato presenta a Sebastian de joven cuando fue a Chicago en busca de su sueño, las mujeres que lo inspiraron y el lanzamiento de su exitosa carrera musical que lo hizo uno de los artistas ganadores del premio GRAMMY con mayores ventas y cuyas canciones perdurarán por siempre.
