The Electrifying 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards Broadcast Reached Over 8 Million Total Viewers 2+ and Made Univision No. 2 Network, Beating CBS, NBC and FOX Among Young Adults 18-34 for the Night

Univision Local Stations Ranked No. 1 in the Time Period Among Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, Miami and Houston

The Program Ranked No. 1 in the Nielsen Social Daily Top 5 Ranking November 19th, Regardless of Language, and grew its Digital Audience by 29% versus 2014


NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 20, 2015 – The biggest stars in Latin music gathered last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards, while 8.1 million Total Viewers 2+ tuned in to all or part of the three-hour broadcast on the Univision Network. On a competitive night with original programming, last night’s telecast delivered an average audience of 4.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.2 million Adults 18-49 and 1.1 million Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as the No. 2 broadcast network among Adults 18-34, ahead of CBS, NBC, and FOX. Univision also ranked as the No. 3 broadcast network for the entire night among Adults 18-49, outperforming NBC and FOX.

The Latin GRAMMY® Awards on Univision attracted more Hispanic Adults 18-49 than the combined audience of the latest editions of the “Billboard Music Awards,” “Country Music Awards” and “MTV Video Music Awards.”

ADDITIONAL NETWORK HIGHLIGHTS

16th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards on the Univision Network:

  • Was the fifth most-watched program on all of broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on NBC (“Heroes Reborn,” “The Blacklist” and “The Player”), FOX (“Bones” and “Sleepy Hollow”) and CW (“The Vampire Diaries” and “The originals”) as well as first-run episodes of CBS’ “Life in Pieces,” “Mom,” “2 Broke Girls” and “Elementary.”
  • Delivered more Adult 18-49 viewers than the entire original line-up on NBC (“Heroes Reborn,” “The Blacklist” and “The Player”), FOX (“Bones” and “Sleepy Hollow”) and CW (“The Vampire Diaries” and “The originals”) as well as the first-run episode of CBS’ “Elementary” to finish within the top 10 programs on all of broadcast television on this night.

SOCIAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

Based on Twitter unique audience, the Latin GRAMMY® Awards was the No. 1 most social program on TV yesterday, generating a higher unique audience on Twitter than “How to Get Away With Murder” (ABC), “Scandal” (ABC) and “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC).

DIGITAL HIGHLIGHTS

Content across Univision’s digital platforms for the Latin GRAMMY® Awards generated over 42 million page views, +29% more page views versus 2014. On the day of the broadcast, page views were up 61% versus day of the broadcast in 2014. Video views from content related to the award show more than doubled compared to 2014 (+107%). This year, 86% of visits to Univision’s Latin GRAMMY® Awards section came from a mobile device.

Co-hosted by actress Jacqueline Bracamontes and Roselyn Sanchez, the 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards showcased Latin music’s brightest stars, including Maná performing with Tigres del Norte, Prince Royce, Espinoza Paz, Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin, Julion Alvarez, J Balvin with Farruko and Juan Luis Guerra. Fifth Harmony gave the audience a once-in-a-lifetime performance with artist Maluma and there was a special performance by the 2015 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year Roberto Carlos. Also, Bomba Estero and four-time GRAMMY® winner Will Smith hit the stage for a show-stopping performance of their single “Fiesta (Remix)”.

Award presenters included Mexican actor Diego Boneta, Latin GRAMMY® winner Miguel Bose, Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega, and Academy Award, Emmy, Tony, and GRAMMY® award winner Rita Moreno.

Preceding the Awards telecast, Univision presented exclusive “Noche De Estrellas” (“Night Of The Stars”) coverage of the celebrity arrivals direct from the Latin GRAMMY® Awards red carpet starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central). “Noche De Estrellas” featured live interviews and commentary on the stars and their fashions, and provided viewers an intimate and up-close look at Latin music’s most glamorous gala event while connecting fans with their favorite celebrities via social media.
