KMEX Univision 34 Los Angeles Finishes May Sweep as the Most-Watched Television Station in Primetime Among Adults 18-49, Outperforming KABC, KNBC, KCBS and KTTV

Decade Long Stretches at No. 1 in Primetime and Local News Continue for L.A.’s Most-Watched Station, Regardless of Language


LOS ANGELES – MAY 21, 2015 – In a highly competitive May sweep which included big sporting events, finales and premieres of big primetime shows, KMEX Univision 34 finished as the No. 1 broadcast station in primetime among Adults 18-49, regardless of language.

Further, in the major news daypart of early local news, this May sweep marks the 21st year that KMEX Univision 34’s 6 p.m. newscast “Noticias Univision 34” has been the No. 1 early evening local news during a major sweep among Adults 18-49.

PRIMETIME RATINGS HIGHLIHTS

  • During the May sweep, KMEX Univision 34 Los Angeles achieved higher primetime ratings than all other broadcast stations including the major English-language network affiliates: KABC-ABC, KNBC-NBC, KTTV-FOX and KCBS-CBS among Adults 18-49.table 1

  • The May 2015 sweep marks the 12th straight May sweep that KMEX has been the most-watched station in primetime, since May 2004.

  • KMEX Univision 34’s local news “Noticias Univision 34” (Univision 34 News) ranked as the No. 1 weekday early local news programs from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. among Adults 18-49, surpassing all competing English-language newscasts.
  • With this sweep, “Noticias Univision 34” at 6 p.m. has been the No. 1 local early news during a major sweep for 21 years among Adults 18-49.  That’s the 85th consecutive major sweep, since May 1994.
  • KMEX Univision 34’s “Noticias Univision 34: Edición Nocturna” (News 34 Late News) ranked No. 1 in late local news among Adults 18-49, making the most watched 11 p.m. local news now for 50 consecutive major sweeps, since February 2003.
