Univision’s on-air personality Alejandra Espinoza is ready to take on the challenge of hosting “La Banda”
MIAMI – JULY 18, 2014 – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia Latin America announce today that popular Univision presenter Alejandra Espinoza will host “La Banda,” the highly-anticipated music-based reality-competition show slated for a 2015 debut on the Univision Network.
The show, developed through a partnership between Univision and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and co-produced with FremantleMedia Latin America, aims to create the world’s ultimate Latino boyband through the biggest Latino talent search in TV history – across the U.S. and several Latin American countries. Representing Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Puerto Rico, contestants will compete for a place in “La Banda” and for a coveted recording contract with Sony Music Latin, label home to the most prolific Latin music artists, along with Syco Music, the recording label for the world’s biggest selling boyband – One Direction.

Born in Mexico, Espinoza joined Univision’s on-air talent roster after winning the first season of the Network’s top-rated reality contest “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty) in 2007. Since then, she has appeared regularly in “Sábado Gigante” (Giant Saturday) and “El Gordo y La Flaca” (The Scoop and the Skinny), and participated in several Univision Network specials such as the “Premio Lo Nuestro®” Latin Music Awards, “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) and the Latin GRAMMY® Awards. Earlier this year, Espinoza returned to the show that launched her TV career, this time as co-host of the 8th season of “Nuestra Belleza Latina.”

(UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, Syco Entertainment de Simon Cowell y FremantleMedia Latin America, anunciaron que la popular presentadora de Univision, Alejandra Espinoza, será la conductora de “La Banda,” el muy esperado concurso-reality musical pautado para estrenarse en la Cadena Univision en 2015.
El programa, desarrollado como resultado de una alianza entre Univision y la empresa Syco Entertainment de Simon Cowell, y co-producido por FremantleMedia Latin America tiene como objetivo crear el mejor grupo juvenil masculino latino de todos los tiempos mediante una búsqueda masiva de talento en Estados Unidos y varios países latinoamericanos. Representando a México, Centroamérica, Sudamérica, Puerto Rico y el Caribe, los concursantes competirán por ocupar un lugar en “La Banda” y obtener un codiciado contrato musical con Sony Music Latin, la casa disquera de los artistas más prolíferos de la música latina, y con Syco Music, el sello discográfico de la agrupación juvenil masculina que más discos vende en el mundo – One Direction.

Desde entonces, ha aparecido regularmente en los programas “Sábado Gigante” y “El Gordo y La Flaca” y ha participado en diversos especiales de Univision, como “Premio Lo Nuestro®”, “Premios Juventud” y el Latin GRAMMY®.
