Our Promise: Content to Count on During Uncertain Times

There is no doubt that we are experiencing times of tremendous change and uncertainty. Yet Univision’s mission remains the same — to inform, empower and entertain U.S. Hispanics.

As our news division works overtime to brilliantly inform and empower our community, Univision is also uniquely positioned to entertain. With a strong programming lineup, due to exceptional content partners and a proven strategy, we are focused on super-serving our audience, especially now when they need us most.

For many networks, this health crisis has resulted in unprecedented changes to their primetime programming as productions for many of their scripted series have been shut down or postponed. At Univision, however, our scripted telenovelas have long-lead production schedules. In fact, 90% of our programming is already produced, or produced in-house, which means that we have a robust slate of original shows already in the pipeline.

Thanks to the content from our incredible partners at Televisa, the largest producers of Spanish-language content in the world, as well as a curated slate of the best global dramas, we are fully prepared to provide our viewers with bold and diverse programming well into 2021.

In fact, we are launching several new dramas this month. Here are just two titles premiering in mid-April:

What’s more, our primetime lineup on Univision is anchored by a proven strategy that’s resulted in a 35% audience growth during weeknight prime so far this year [1]. By programming each hour with distinctive kinds of content, we’re able to tailor to the needs of Hispanic viewers of all ages.

For example, at 7 and 8pm we’re featuring heartwarming dramas that the whole family can enjoy. At 9pm, it’s some of the most romantic dramas curated from around the world. Then at 10pm, our bold and edgy storylines keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

I’d like to add that our success extends past our flagship network. In March, UniMás, which offers viewers alternative series and realities, increased its primetime audience by an average of 60% year-over-year [2]. Thanks to a refined slate of new programs, including ¿Qué Culpa Tiene Fatmagül? (What is Fatmagül’s Fault?), our momentum continues – even while hit reality shows like Enamorándonos, the fastest-growing reality series in the current broadcast season, remain on hiatus.

As the leading Hispanic media company in the U.S., we take very seriously our ongoing responsibility to serve the Hispanic community, especially during these difficult times. Thankfully, Univision is well-prepared to face 2020’s uncertainties with a strong, dependable pipeline of content to meet both the needs of our community and our marketing partners.
