International and U.S. U12 All-Stars Go Head-to-Head for the First Time
WHAT:
After three days of nonstop action, the best of U12 soccer are heading to the Prospects Cup semifinals as FC Dallas takes on Weston FC in the US championship and Fluminense FC from Brazil battles with Manchester City from the U.K. to claim the International title. The International and U.S. champions will face off in the Prospects Cup Final on Friday, December 22 at 10:45 a.m. ET.
Boys from across the globe have already highlighted what the future of soccer holds during the thrilling group stage. 16 teams, eight U.S. and eight International, have faced-off in 24 matchups throughout this nail-biting tournament.
FC Dallas’s Keyrol Figueroa has been living up to the family legacy with two goals in the tournament. Figueroa’s father, Maynor, is Captain of FC Dallas’s professional team. Weston FC has been unstoppable, knocking in eight goals in three games. Internationally, Manchester City is undefeated, scoring nine goals in three games, including a 4-0 win versus Borussia Dortmund. On Tuesday, Boca Juniors’ Gonzalo Marquez dazzled with a direct corner kick earning him the Goal of the Day.
Before the semifinals, top players from the U.S. and International teams will face off in the Prospects Cup All-Star Game. Designed to reinforce the camaraderie and sportsmanship of Prospects Cup, Team Conquest and Team Triumph will include two young athletes (one offensive and one defensive) from the 16 teams playing side by side.
