In Addition to the Live Broadcasts, Univision’s Soccer Experts Will Bring Viewers Analysis on Special Editions of the Network’s Award-Winning “Fútbol Central”
WHAT:
The start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is just a year away, and it is crunch time in CONCACAF. Six of the Federation’s teams are still in the fight to be among the 32 teams represented in Russia, and the three matches set to be broadcast live on Univision, UDN and UniMás this week will go a long way toward clarifying the picture.
The action begins Thursday, June 8 as Trinidad and Tobago, which is currently in last place, takes on the fourth-ranked U.S. team. Following a special pre-game edition of “Fútbol Central” at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, UniMás and UDN will have the game live beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Univision soccer experts and “Locura Deportiva” veterans Raúl Guzmán and Diego Balado will have the play-by-play, while their colleague Ramsés Sandoval has the perspective from the field and former U.S. National Team captain Marcelo Balboa provides commentary.
That same night, current CONCACAF leader Mexico takes the field at home in Mexico City against their Central American rival Honduras, which is currently in fifth place. The match starts at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, and will be carried by UniMás and UDN. Univision’s Luis Omar Tapia will narrate the action, with commentary from Enrique “El Perro” Bermúdez and former Honduras National Team member Carlos Pavón. Univision’s Rodolfo Landeros, who has years of experience covering the Mexican team, will report from the sidelines.
Rounding out the week will be the all-star matchup on Sunday, June 11 between North America’s two soccer giants, Mexico and the U.S. at Azteca Stadium. “Fútbol Central” will be on the air with pre-game analysis at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, followed by the game itself at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT on Univision and UDN. It will be narrated by Guzmán and by Univision’s veteran World Cup journalist Pablo Ramírez. Commentators will include Balboa, Univision Deportes newcomer Francisco Villa and former Mexico coach Néstor de la Torre. Univision Deportes correspondent Ana Caty Hernández will report from the field on the U.S. team, while Sandoval will do the same for Mexico.

QUÉ:
Falta apenas un año para el inicio de la Copa Mundial 2018 de la FIFA, y es el momento de la verdad en CONCACAF. Seis equipos de la Federación aún luchan por estar entre los 32 equipos que competirán en Rusia, y los tres partidos que se trasmitirán en vivo por Univision, UDN y UniMás esta semana harán mucho por aclarar el panorama.
La acción empezará el jueves, 8 de junio cuando Trinidad y Tobago, que actualmente ocupa el último lugar, se enfrente al equipo estadounidense, que está en cuarto lugar. Tras una edición especial de “Fútbol Central” antes del partido, a las 7 p.m. Este/4 p.m. Pacífico, UniMás y UDN presentarán el partido en vivo a las 8 p.m. Este/5 p.m. Pacífico. Los expertos en fútbol de Univision y los veteranos de “Locura Deportiva” Raúl Guzmán y Diego Balado anunciarán cada jugada, mientras que su colega Ramsés Sandoval ofrecerá la perspectiva desde la cancha y el ex capitán de la Selección Nacional de los Estados Unidos Marcelo Balboa ofrecerá comentario.
Esa misma noche, el actual líder de CONCACAF, México, jugará en la Ciudad de México contra su rival centroamericano, Honduras, que actualmente está en quinto lugar.
